It's different for every household. If you want to have a boyfriend and your parents don't let you, you need to let them know that they can trust you, that you are a responsible person and you won't go do anything silly.

Also, it could be that they want to protect you. Teenage relationships are hard to keep going sometimes. In that case, you need to show your parents that you are serious about your relationship and it is not just a fling.

After all that, things will fall into place. Good luck!

Your parents make these rules for your benefit, although it is hard for you to understand that at this time in your life. Other peoples' parents might make different rules, or, more likely, fail to make any. You are fortunate to have parents who are giving you guidance. For now, have friends, boys and girls. The "boyfriend" scene can wait for a little while.

They aren't. A girl needs to wait until 16 only if her parents say so.

My daughter waited until 16,and so will my son. I doubt he'd want to take a girl out on his bicycle anyway. If you need affection at such a young age,get a puppy or something.

Where do you live that you have to be 16?

If it's your parents, they're probably just trying to protect you from the 60% of guys that are assholes.

Because girls get pregnant and boys don't. Girls lives are changed forever by it, guys can deny the baby is theirs and continue living their life.

I don't think it's a matter of being "allowed," unless there's a religion involved. I think it's just a wise decision many parents make.
