So me and my husband are planning to get carpet by Christmas. We were measured Wednesday, but the quote was delayed because the man from Home Depot didn't enter the measurements that day as he said he would. Now we are to get the quote Monday or Tuesday. We were told that after we were to order the carpet, hopefully the same day we recieve a quote, it would take 2-3 weeks for he carpet to arrive. We expected the delivery time to be shorter, maybe one week. But having it arrive three weeks later, that would be only one week until the 25th. I am worried about the time crunch. Would we have to set up an appointment to have in installed(my husband is remove the current carpet)? My kids are fretting about getting a good tree in time. I don't know what to do, is there any way I can speed up the process?

don't get carpet get wood. If you have kids or animals it is the smarter way to go.

Stop by and ask what the scoop is about carpeting. Don't wait for them to call. You may be able to speed things up. While you're there, set an appointment to install.
Give it a try, see what you can do. Go in, don't call.
If would be nice to have before Christmas. On the other hand, don't beat yourself up about it. You'll never make till Christmas. If you are having guests over, they'll understand. I feel if people don't like my dust, they don't have to look.
You have a couple of kids there that are getting as crazed as you are. They don't care about carpeting. They're just worried if they're going to have a tree this year.
Calm down, because what will be will be. Try to have a good Christmas.

Find out Home Depot's actual position on it....is it the stock that has to come in from somewhere else or is it the installer (who is probably sub-contracted by Home Depot)who can't fit it into his schedule until then?
If you got a carpet that was in stock, would it be completed faster?
If you can't get a solid guarantee that it will be installed by your target date, than let it go, relax and it'll be something new for the new year. Another option is to go with another company but then you may have to pay more.

Find the same carpet at another store. Installation should only take a day, depending on the size of the room. I am a carpet installer, I know how this stuff wrks. It would help out alot if ur husband removed the existing carpet.

I'm in the same position but hoping that mine will be installed this week, then I'll decorate. If it gets too close to Christmas I'll tell them to wait until after Christmas. I know you, like me, want it before the holiday so the house will look good, but the upside of this is that you can make a big mess at Christmas (spill red wine if you like!) and look forward to a nice clean house for the New Year!

I work for a carpet company in a rural area and the most time you have to wait for a roll of ordered carpet is usually a week..........
he may be saying this because they are to busy ,installer wise ,and can't fit you in fast enough..........
just out of word of mouth and my two cents, stay away from h/d and lowes type installers and go with a pro floor covering company that just does that type of work...........you may pay a little more but from what I understand you will be a lot happier with their installation...........

Cancel Home Depot, they sublet their installs and repairs to other contractors. I have either done it my self or went through
Lowe's . Your experience sounds like my one and only with Home Depot ,Never Again!!!!!!!
