yes it can but you need the springs from a v-6 model truck to support the weight of the engine you,ll also need to change the radiator ,the wiring is really simple though a one wire alternator will work fine on it,i say this because its already been done,we did it,changed the rear end also the Nissan rear end didn't last very long, its not as hard as you,d think it is though they make a mount kit for this truck, any parts store with a performance book can order them for you,i want to do an older model Toyota next ,if i can find a good body, good luck and enjoy, the truck it will draw a lot of attention. PS i went with a turbo 350 tranny, because it was simple, you can use a 700 r 4 if you want to which is a better tranny.

Actually your best option is to sell off OLD PAINT and purchase a new 2012 truck that you can drive safely every day. Working on a 23 year old truck you will never stop finding things wrong with it. There is no best easiest when it comes to old work trucks. If you spend several thousand dollars perfecting a CHEVY engine transmission swap or even Another rebuilt Nissan Motor you will never get that money or extra life out of the truck. Good Luck

Ford or GM either one Like Dodge man said find a 9 inch ford rear end narrow it and make up a drive shaft. It has been done so there are web sites and even Kits available. I reccomend an aluminium V-8 like the LS-1 or LS-2 with either transmission 6 speed manual or automatic. Lot's of work but a blast to drive afterward. Imagine a 6 speed LS-2 with over 400 hp in that light trucklet? ROAR

Sure it can. If you have enough money you can probably install any engine in any car you want.
