why is it that they wait until they come outside to arrest most of those pedophiles on their dateline show, just wondering maybe they need warrants but if is a sting operation whouldn't they already have taken care of that?

In addition to the other contributors' answers: because there is ALWAYS the risk that some judge or some jury will toss out any kind of evidence related to an arrest within somebody's home (even if it is only the pretend home of an NBC harlot).

Effecting the arrest outside under the probable cause of something committed within their presence (via electronic devices) has much fewer variables that could go in favor of the defendant.

And even then, things still go in the favor of the defendant.

After NBC's umpteenth showing of one rather portly person getting pommelled by police, I decided to look up online to see how the guy's court case was going, and I found out that his case had long before been entirely dismissed, however, I recall not what for.

The police probably have a John Doe warrant. Or since they know who is coming to the sting house they already have a warrant with the persons name on it. If the person does not show, he is still able to be arrested on Federal charges of Internet use for child abuse (or whatever it is called).

Also, you do not need a warrant if probable cause is shown. And the tapes MSNBC makes proves the probable cause. Once the pedophiles enter that house, before they say one word they are eligible to be arrested.

I suspect that MSNBC is fronting all the money for most of the investigation. They get the chance to do their story before the arrest is made. The prosecutor gets to use all the footage from MSNBC.

Yikes, you're not planning to be caught by them are you?
