When I joined I was about to leave for basic and I got really depressed and my family had me hospitalized involuntarily and I rethought my situation and called the recruiter who told me to do whatever I could to get out and get to basic training. I obviously disclosed the info, but shouldn't he not have let me in the AF?

It all depends on whether you had a 5150 hold placed on you, If the recruiter enlisted you in a MOS that not require use of weapons, which is doubtful because your Basic training to use a weapon, then it could be grounds to get out of the USAF....Make sure you or your family has all the documentation necessary to prove your case. Lately to meet the recruiting goals, there has been a lot of deception used to meet the goals.....Good Luck, make the most of your experience and do what your heart feels right to do........

well not trying to condone what he did. but recruiters get a lot of slack if there recruits do not ship when they are suppose to. when you got to basic there should have been a "moment of truth" you could have told them then. i don't really think this will be problem unless you have to get a ts or some other clearnance. then just be truthful and nothing should really be brought up

as long as you disclosed, you did NOT commit fraud. second guessing yourself now is not a good reason to say: I committed fraud and want out.
