My guinea pig seems to prefer going to the bathroom in his hideout... Should I remove the hideout while potty training him to use the litter box?

Animals in cages usually choose one corner to use as their potty place, so try moving the hideout to another corner and if he relocates to poop in it again take it out for awhile to see what he does, then pick his fav corner and put a litterbox in. Then try putting the hideout back in after a week

Same problem I have. I noticed my piggies liked going on a certain corner, so I put the litter box there, one got the hang of it, unfortunately, the other did not! So I suggest putting it in his hideout.

I definitely have guinea pigs and you're able to maximum actual potty practice them. do no longer hear to those ppl that say you won't be able to. How I do it....I definitely have a sort of small nook muddle pans(used for ferrets etc) and that i word the place she likes to potty and place it there (interior the cage). Then I eliminate all bedding and place it interior the muddle pan. I placed no different bedding interior the cage bc if I did, she might in simple terms use it. interior a week, she grew to become into pottying interior the muddle pan. Makes cleansing alot much less tense. She has injuries here and there interior the cage however the final public of waste is interior the muddle pan. save at it! that's finished!

Dear Allie Mae,

I agree with Karen. I have two guinea pigs, actually one past away this June, for a year and half now. I did try by set the triangle potty to one of corner and they used it. But they do their business at other places also.

You can try for yourself! I used one from PetSmart. It comes with wire rack so all their drops and urine are going down to below the rack.
