Your question is difficult to answer because there are many careers in this classification. Police Services cover investigation, crime lab, evidence tech, personnell, payroll, community policing, anti-terrorism, community education, and police artist sketchers.
I am thinking you want to be a police artist. If so, you want the art classes, and you will need to have established a solid career before they will take you. You will also want to take classes in drawing for forensics.

You should always take art classes. It will help you wherever you want to go in life. Right now you might want to go into the police services, but sometime down the road you may want to do something else where you will need a little art background. You should have a solid foundation of a little of everything.
