I don't always want all these baked goods around my house. It's like I enjoy the act of baking much more than the act of eating my dessert.. Does anyone have any good ideas of what I could do with these baked goods? Charities or something that would further help me feel good about baking.. thanks!

work, friends, neighbors, relatives, any special events...I don't know about charities since they don't know if you're psycho or not.

Exact same problem here. Except my problem comes in the form of terribly picky brothers who won't touch anything homemade so I hate watching the food go to waste because they refuse to even try it. Luckily for me, I'm really close with my extended family so we have get togethers for cards or dinner or just to hang out at least once a week and they all love to try anything I make. If it's cookies or muffins you are making then you can mix up a batch of dough, bake what you want and then freeze the rest of the batter until you want some more. If it's a cake or bread, just wrap it up and give it away to someone at work, someone who is having a birthday, or a new neighbor for example. Take anything you make to school or the office and let everyone know that you have treats for them to sample. You never know, you could be the new favorite baker that everyone wants food from! Also, I have friends who love to bake and cook as much as I do so we have potlucks regularly where we each bring something to eat and then we play cards or taboo or something or watch movies and play video games. Get togethers with friends are the best excuse for to make food!

It used to be that you could take any leftover food (from a wedding, birthday, etc.) to the food bank to feed the poor. Restaurants, Cafeterias, etc. used to be able to give their leftovers soups, etc. also to the food bank. But something changed - someone must have sued for food poisoning or something. So now, the food banks only take food in cans and foods sealed from a grocery store. They don't take home-made foods. Isn't that a bummer!!

I know that for a person to be able to bake and sell it (or give it away) would require the health department come and check your work area for sanitation, etc. You'd need a health permit also.

I don't even think you could give it to a Retirement Home or Nursing Home.

BUT!!! My mother was recently in the hospital and I was able to bring things in for the nurses. You may be able to do that for your local fire department, the nursing staff in the ER at your local hospital, etc. You might call your local police department to see if they take baked goods "In thanks for their service". Just check around your town to see what places may take it.

There are so many governmental obsticles these days to jump over to be kind to others.

Drop them off at a local nursing home.
Check with area Head Start programmes.
Shelters.
Church bakesales.

If you love baking, you can check with your extension office, too and see if they need someone to volunteer to teach a class. Or at a teen parent centre.

My local fire station is right around the corner and I always bring them cookies for Christmas. I've resently started trying out new recipes on them. Since it's just me and my boyfriend we always have alot of leftovers b/c I love to bake myself. The firefighters always really appreciate that you thought of them!!

I think its a great idea to drop them off at a nursing home. So many people think of shelters, police stations and fire stations during the holidays but it seem as though patients in nursing homes are often last on the list.

you can go to your local homeless shelter, give one to everyone you know on the holidays to tell them how much you care about them, or if there is a charity around that asks for goods then you can give it to them

(P.S. something like my third idea go to a school to give it to their bake sale-helps raise money)

try looking up soup kitchens in your area......maybe a salvation army or city harvest may accept donations as well.
locate churches in your neighborhood.....they may have an outreach program.
you could also try using your baking as a fundraiser, for yourself and others
