Read it carefully. It will most likely give you the amount of the fine (written on the front), and the option to either send a check to pay it, or to request a court date if you wish to fight the ticket. If you want to pay it, send the ticket in, put the ticket number on your check, and mail it soon. If you want a court date, you can check that off (usually on the back of the ticket). There should be a phone number you can call with questions. DO NOT wait to hear from them in the mail - they do that when you are late in paying your ticket, which means an extra fine.

When a speeding ticket is issued, the amount you are required to pay is placed on the ticket by the officer issuing the ticket. Directions for paying the ticket are also printed on the ticket. If you do not want to contest the ticket, you may send the money to the State, county, or city address on the ticket. Should you want to contest, you will be required to appear in court.
If you pay the ticket, without contesting, the state that issued the ticket will probably assess points against your driver's license. These points may result in higher automobile insurance fees.
I suggest you contact the municipality that issued the ticket to ascertain your options. Contact the court now; don't wait until the day before you are to appear in court.

Depends on your state. Easiest way to find out is to just call the police department on their NON emergency number and ask what they do with the proceedure on tickets. The price of the ticket is based on how much over the limit you were going. It's standardized by rates. If you're in their system, they can check it while you're on the phone.
Most of the time you can pay it by mail. If you want to contest it, then you go to court and ask the judge to throw it out, but you need a good reason for him to do that.
Call now, three weeks is too long to wait. If it looks like you are ignoring it (if it's been lost in the mail) the fine goes higher.

yeah, they usually don't send you anything. why would that remind you about a ticket? they want your money and they probably figure that you should find out of your own because if you don't show up for court then they can issue a warrant for your arrest and if arrested that bring more money for them. But usually all tickets give you 30 days to pay. before you show up for court you should have the money then because if you show up and don't have the money they will take you on to jail. check with the county or state municipal court for info on fines for tickets and you also would have to pay be money order not check and in some cases credit card.

If you need to know the ammount to pay, call the number listed on the ticket, or the courthouse... keep calling until you find the answer. It takes many many calls, because of course they don't want you to actually be able to pay on time, because they want the ticket price to double, and then go into collections where you will pay triple or quadruple the original cost. If you send it off in the mail now they will say they haven't got it in time. Go IN PERSON to pay it, so they can't pull any of that baloney.

It may vary from state to state, don't know where you're from but I live in NH and they give you the ticket right there. Then they tell you that you have 30 days or so to pay it or take it to court and fight it. Usually on the invoice the cop gives you, it tells you where to send it. Try fighting it. If it's at all a questionable offense, you may be able to win.

usually they should send you something in the mail but it sometimes says on your ticket itself when you need to appear in the ticket itself. You should go to the court no matter to find out what is going on.

You have 2 options:
1. call the court and ask how much the fine is, and pay it. If you pay it, you don't have to go to court.
2. if you want to contest the ticket, go to court on the date and time specified.
