eye tooth!!!!!!!!!!?

Question

I have a missing eye tooth, and I'm 16. I'm going to the dentist in a couple of weeks. Before an orthodontist said the best thing was to just reshape my teeth or something like that, now we went back over the summer, and then he made this huge plan for a tooth implant. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM???? PLEASE GIVE ADVICE! HELP!!!!!

It depends on whether your teeth are crowded now or not. If your teeth are tight enough the remaining teeth can cover for the gap fairly well, I would not go into a high-maintenance item like a tooth implant at your age. Implants can develop issues that are expensive to fix. Ask kids you know if they think it looks unattractive or like something you should have fixed. If no one is turned off by the tooth, I would only have the work done if its absense is making other teeth nearby loose. The change in recommendation sounds like the dentist has just come back from getting new training and a new piece of equipment he is eager to use on you. My dentist suddenly got all crazy about wanting to cap my tooth - right after he went to training for tooth capping, that is. Guess he had to get some practice and to pay for his new equipment.

Get a second and third opinion I think there must be another way Perhaps there is and appliance your can get that will work and no implant necessary. Also If you have Dental Insurance, Most Ins. Only pays 50% of the cost for anything Major so I suggest you check the amount they will cover. And Find out if what they do not pay is somthing you can make payments on or do you have to pay "upfront. One other thing you need to consider is the material they will be useing, Porceline? I dont you would want white gold or silver when it shows and an Eye tooth will show. They also may have some other kind of material in this day Good luck. Keep smiling!

i believe the eye tooth you wer refering to was a upper canine.

the eye tooth is an anterior teeth and can be seen when you were to smile or speak. if your orthodontist doesnt put an implant for that tooth, chances are, the premolar (the adjacent tooth) are likely to drift into that position and it may affect your overall appearance.

the canines also have aesthetic value because of their positions and the soft tissue relationship. the alveolar bone overlying the labial part of the root forms the canine eminence, which provides the foundation for the attachment of tissues and muscles of facial expression. when these teeth are lost/ missing, the canine eminences are resorbed and consequently the corners of the mouth droop.

Ive not had that problem before, but I have had 2 different dentists tell me 2 different things about my wisdom teeth.

So you might want to get a second oppinion.

I'm not a DDS but if you are just doing this for cosmetic purposes you may want to reconsider.
