I NEVER drink coffee. Ever. Actually, I do not even drink soda regularly. I usually drink juice or water or tea. Today I had two large bottles of coffee (you may be familiar with the tall Starbucks ones you can buy at any store.) I drank one bottle around 2, and another later in the evening. And I've been experiencing sort of a general feeling of dread and anxiety. Even though today I've felt very content, in the back of my mind there's a sort of fear/anxiety. And I feel a little breathless. It's nothing too intense, but I usually dont feel this way. I finally thought that maybe it was the caffeine I had, and that my body is not used to it. Could this be the cause? I am generally a very nervous/worried/paranoid person, so whenever I feel scared of anxious I just cannot relax. Just wondering.

If you aren't used to drinking a lot of caffeine, it could definitely trigger your anxiety. I've dealt with panic/anxiety attacks in the past and I know that whenever I'm feeling stressed and then drink coffee, I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. You should watch your caffeine intake from now on. Even chocolate and some medications can have as much caffeine as coffee. And if you still have problems with anxiety, you should check with a doctor.

Yes, an increased caffeine intake can make you feel jittery and can also make your heart speed up, and your mind thinks those physical symptoms are because you are anxious or dreading something, even if you're really not. Caffeine overload side effects cause physical things to happen that set off a "fight or flight" reaction in your brain. I know because a friend of mine drank a lot of energy drinks with caffeine and felt the same way, but once she stopped, she was okay.

Caffeine, too much of it, can cause all your symptoms. Also, it can stay in your system up to 12 hours, so it's best to avoid it in the afternoon. But since you never drink it you definately shouldn't have two huge cans of it. It can cause Panic and anxiety, as it is a stimulant

I am not familiar with the large starbucks bottles, I don't drink coffee myself, but intakes of a large amount of anything can cause anxiety I believe.
My solution:
Don't drink as much coffee...
Benefits:
better health, better sleep, less of a chance of addiction and less axienty.

If you never have caffeine, an occasional drink of coffee may make you jittery.
But true anxiety is a medical (pshychiatric) condition that requires medical intervention to control.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

If you are already a worrier (as am I), then Yes! Caffeine is a drug, although mild, it can make your symptoms worse.
