I'm just wondering if I'm allergic to coffee or not. I've read places that people say it could be the caffeine which is affecting you (I don't know how true that is, as I'm very used to consuming large amounts of caffeine) and I've also read that it could be a lactose intolerance problem. As I know I already have the latter, and how I feel when I'm having those problems, it seems very unlikely. I just drank about 5 mouthfuls of coffee. I felt fine for a minute or so, but then I started feeling quite sick. It's been about half an hour now (I tipped the rest of the coffee out) and I'm getting slight stomach cramps, I'm feeling nauseated, and like I'm going to throw up. The first few times I ever drank coffee was when I was about 8 years old, and I felt fine at first, and then sick, much like now. I'm feeling pretty weak and dizzy right now, and just want to lie down. How is it possible to be allergic to coffee? How can you be?

Also, I rarely ever drink coffee. I've had it about 4 or 5 times in my entire life, and I'm an adult now.

I get nauseated when I drink coffee on an empty stomach, and suffer from many of the symptoms you described here. Coffee is very acidic and can upset your stomach easily if you don't balance it with something else. I usually drink mine with breakfast (usually a bagel), and don't have this problem.

I have the same problem and to date doctors haven't been able to give me an answer. I can drink coke without a problem so the theory is that I can handle caffiene. When it comes to coffee I feel unwell and the end result of drinking a cup (until I worked out what was causing it obviously) would be a feeling similar to what I imagine someone reaching through my spine and tearing my stomach would feel like.
Black and decaf were investigated. In my case at least, it's the coffee itself.
As far as allergies go - anything is possible. I'm allergic to apple.

Do you've a rash? Your co-worker would have some type of allergic reaction to a computer virus or cleansing soap or any type of issues and also you're having an similar reaction because human beings in certain situations try this. it truly is like once you've been in college and also you are able to listen of a toddler with lice then you could start up itching and freak because you imagine you've it too. easy itching and not using a rash isn't a symptom of an allergic reaction. till you advance hives better than probable it truly is something topical and not in any respect espresso inflicting the reaction or you're basically reacting on your co-workers hypersensitive reaction.

i say don't drink it if it makes you sick. i agree with the person who posted first, try it black. also, try drinking straight milk, and if you're lactose intolerant, then you will feel sick after the milk like you do (or worse) than you do when you drink coffee. wait a while, or until you feel perfectly fine from the coffee.

You could be allergic to coffee. I know I am. If you go to an allergist and get tested, they can test you for coffee. I got a swollen, itchy bump when they tested me.

Have you tried it black? If the same thing happens, it's probably the coffee.
