I know the helmets were the same because the british gave the US 400,000 of their own. What about the uniforms though? The same also?

There were vast differences in the style and cut of the U.S. and British uniforms of WW1.

The material was different, the color not exactly the same, the position of the pockets, the design of buttons and insignia.

The US did share helmets both with the British (Brodie) & French (Adrian) styles, until they were able to make and ship to France enough of their own.

The Americans also used British and French webbing and weapons for the same reasons, until their own supplies came over.

Close examination of contemporary photographs taken during WW1 shows all the differences if you examine the pictures carefully.

You have to remember the British fought WWI for 4 years the US for only a few months.

British uniforms were mostly a wool material battle dress by name. (Itchy as a get out) The British also wore puttees.

I don't think any US units wore kilts.
