I eat A LOT...when i'm bored, when i'm sleepy, or just because it's there. I have gained about 10 pounds since my school year has started and I am starting to feel self-consious about my body.

Does anyone have advice on what I can do to take my mind off of food, or maybe lose some of the weigth I've been gaining?

[P.S. Being that it's after Thanksgiving what are some good healthy foods I can eat and still manage to eat the left overs too?]

Removing temptation would be a good start. Eat healthier and exercise. Also, come up with things to do when you're bored, sleep when you're sleepy (unless it's class, then just draw in ur notebook to stay awake, don't eat there, it's unsanitary, lol) If the food's there, don't eat it, move it or yourself!
It helps if you eat breakfast-cereal or eggs and toast or oatmeal and have juice too(preferably earlier than 9am), then have a snack an hour or two later (small, a fruit or veggie or small sandwhich), then eat lunch when lunch comes (a nice lunch, healthy, no deep fried fat enriched slab of fat, ur cafeteria at school has healthy food ask your lunchaids and at home fix something good, no junk) then again one or two hours later have a snack (healthy of course) and when dinner comes, make sure it's a balanced meal that isn't too heavy (too many carbs or fats). You should be fine till morning then start again.

I had the same problem!!! Okay first eat lite yogurt. It is sweet, (if you have a sweet tooth), low calories, and dairy product have been proven to make you fill full and eat less through out the day. Second, drink lots of water. By hydrating yourself you are boosting your metabolism and staying healthy. Third, exercise everyday. When you are bored take your dogs for a walk. fourth, eat three meals a day. Eat light meals like salads, fish, chicken, etc. Eating three meals will make you fill full, and boost your metabolism. Last, AVOID THE KITCHEN WHEN YOU ARE BORED!!! Or when it is not a meal time. this will only get you into trouble. I hope this helps. i went through the same thing but successful lost the weight. i wish you luck and hope my advice helps!

Eat more fiber rich food. Eat more fruits and veggies. Drink lots of water. Fat Free milk, or at least low fat milk. 100% whole wheat bread, Baked not fried foods. Lean meats, Egg whites. Oatmeal. Everything in moderation. That and exercise. It does not have to be no more of less than 30 minutes every other day. Try it, you will like it, and you will stop eating as much.

Nuts, popcorn, frozen Yogurt.

Learn to limit yourself. Eat healthy snacks on a regular basis. Consider switching to 6 small meals a day. If you catch yourself snacking when you aren't hungry, stop.
Find other things to do to fill your time, especially if it is stress-related eating. Take up a hobby, knit.
If you still feel the need to chew, buy a whole pack of gum.

sounds to me like stress and probably lack of sleep rolled up with your low self esteem... you find food comforting that was just how we grow up you scrape your knee your mom offered you a cookie or something to make u feel better ... subconsciously you are comforting yourself with food... try yoga or something to relax and also get in a work out... if nothing else go to bed ten minutes early and lay on your stomach left ear on your arms and breath as slow and deep as you can until you relax or feel better ... also when watching tv do jumping jacks in the commercial breaks then ull be less likely to wander in the kitchen ... hang in there i know u can do it
