That's how I feel! But I love the stories, I read them because they're entertaining. And some passages are nice lol..
So true, how can we trust man to say who God is? That's crazy.

Do you know that some religions dont even read the bible or even know what is in it. And some base their lives on it, I look at the bible as a history book, it is like a guide for life, but to be taken with a grain of salt so to say, as the Bible is so old, it was originally written in a foreign language that is almost untranslatable , there are many books missing as some of the religious rulers of ancient times, feared they would mislead the people, and they would not be able to keep control of the people if the real truth were known about a lot of things. same today.

Some do, however I do not suppose they must. A lot of the Hebrew writing within the Old Testament used to be written after the parties and transcribed from culture. I comprehend one of the crucial New Testament stuff can have been additionally. I do realize Y'Shua's (in line with different writings from the time, that typically used to be Jesus’ truly title) phrases had been written later via others. He did not write whatever. I learn just lately that used to be real approximately the Quran. The phrases are Muhammad's however he didn't write them down. Someone else did later. As I famous plenty of men and women pass via plenty of challenge looking to turn out each and every phrase is right and from God. It is noticeable to me plenty is legends and fabricated to have an impact on the Hebrews and, later, the Jewish cult that over a couple of centuries constructed into Christianity. A couple examples are the reviews of Samson and Job. I feel they're simply classes approximately marriage regulations and loyalty to God. In the Quran, there are matters I uncover very clever, just like the caution approximately vengeance; however there are a few matters that I suspect could serve normally Muhammad. One is his explanation to his other halves and an additional is combating to the demise for Islam. I research religions, and different philosophies, and each books are well representations of cultures' perspectives of themselves, their international, God and the family members among the ones. Too many men and women attempt to placed extra into them than is in there. That is in which the challenge begins. If you desire to grasp approximately God, near the books and seem round you. He is far and wide external the books. Relatively little of him is in there.

We read it to learn about past civilizations that we have come from. If you ask a group of catholics if they truely believe 100% of what their religion says, there's only a select few. The reason why preists can't marry is because in the middle ages they would have children, and then when they died their land would go to their children, not the Pope, and therefore the Pope would become poorer. There are so many other things like that but im too lazy to google it for you. We read it because everyone else does, and those who actually study cultures read it to learn more.
how many "faithful" people have read the bible cover to cover?
besides being nice and faithful, the bible also say you can beat your wife... should we be following that verbatum word for word?

I've tried faith in people.I tried faith in pills.I even tried faith in weed.None of it worked,at least not on a permanent basis. I've found that the Word of God is more than just printed words in a book some guy wrote. It works. It works for me.The promises in it work.Every time I screw up,and I do screw up. When I finally get sick of the mess I find myself in, I go back to the Word and what I'm looking for and what I need is right there.I don't want to sound religious or spiritual cause I don't have church I go to.The only ones I know of around here are exactly like what the most of you hate about the religious folks. What I'm saying,I've found that these words of God work.

The Bible, has characteristics that other books don't have, like for example, it was written in a long period, some where around 1500 years, by different men. still, it concordats from the beginning to the end. it survived tones of enemies trough the millenniums. And after thousands of years, you can still look in it for practical advise and useful principles. did you know, that long before man discover that the earth was round, the bible said it thousands of year ago? how do you explain that?

the old testament is full of stories (similar to myths of other countries that try to explain natural phenomena that they didnt understand or tell morals) that were told by word of mouth for many, many, many years before they were written down. the new testament is full of actual testaments from the apostles. no one knows when they were written down (probably about 30-60 years after the death of jesus) and were written by the actual apostles (if they could read and write) or were dictated to a scribe by an apostle.
to answer your question, some people read the bible because it gives them comfort or to try to interpret a "moral lesson" from it. such moral lessons can be found elsewhere but religious people tend to look to the bible first.

When I decided to believe in God, and applied the Word of God (Bible) to my life , miracles started happening in my life. That is the reason for my belief, and the reason I continue to read the Bible.

with out faith it is impossible to please God. You have to have faith that the stories are true. You know if it were fiction then the bible would not change so many lives. It changed mine. I am proof that God exists.
