It will take 20 weeks if you are being smart about it and still to the plan. Start walking daily and then include some sprints with the walk so you are running until you are out of breath, then walking until you catch your breath - then run again. Do this for at least 1/2 hour a day, working it up to one hour a day and looking for more challenging trails or streets with rolling hills. Do some weight training - Tae Bo or Lifting. Include yoga to reduce the chances of injury. Also alter your diet - you need to remove all sugars competely - refined or natural or fruits. Stick with protein and vegetables, some carbohydrates. Don't snack - just eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and one other meal when you need it. You can have a "free' day to eat what you please at the end of the month, or a free meal at the end of each week. If you tend to order too much food or put too much on the plate, start leaving some and tossing it - it's OK, it wouldn't last until the starving children overseas got it anyway. You can add Atkins to the diet for a few weeks each two months if you can stand it. It will help make more muscle, so you will drop dress sizes even if the weight is moving slowly.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

If also pregnant, give birth & nurse your baby. I strongly advise against loss of limb. Bowel cleansing is a good method to add to diet & exercise. That will take out 3-5 lbs. easy! Get long hair cut short. That will result in an easy 2-5 lbs. weight loss that is semi-permanent. Until it grows back, anyway! Wear lighter weight clothes. Wear foam shoes. They help the feet feel like you weigh less. This will help you move around better. Get a treadmill for yourself & replace the chair in front of the TV with it. Walk when watching TV. Find yourself a work-out buddy. If married, have sex more often. If not, self-pleasure will work just fine. It burns a lot of calories. The Atkin's diet works really well. Unfortunately, yo-yo happens a while later.

Wow! "40 pounds asap" is a bit of a tall order!!! Be kind to yourself (not to mention realistic) 40 pounds over a course of six months or so, i think, is realistic. Sounds like you want to make a lifestyle change and you're getting a bit older so your metabolism may be slowing or changing.
Listen, walk everyday- up the stairs instead of an elevator, with the dog, to get the mail, or on your lunch break- just get walking into your life. Another thing to do is to eat well... try to avoid real junk food and eat food your body can really use.
Good luck, be healthy and keep moving! :)

I am 29 and lost approx. 30 about a year ago. Do NOT buy into the hype of the "fad" diets. Although not as quick, the only long-term, healthy way to lose weight is by eating right and exercising! You are going to spend big bucks on fad diets and pills for immediate weight loss. However, it is probably not healthy and the weight WILL come back as soon as you hit the 40 lbs. and stop the diet. Go with what 90% of pros will tell you, eat healthy and exercise regularly!

eat less. start running. all the other bull **** fitness stuff (eliptical, bike blah blah blah) is garbage. even if you can only run for 4 minutes get out there and do it and then walk for 20 mins. the next day try to run for 5 minutes and walk for 20. do this until you can run for 10 minutes without stopping. Then try a run for 3 minutes, walk 3 minutes, run 3 minutes, walk 3 minutes for a half hour. Do this 4-5 days a week, gradually increase your distance and the weight will drop off, and you'll feel great. Combine this with better eating habits and you'll be in top shape in no time. Be sure to rest and get plenty of sleep too.

**Eat at the same time everyday, do not snack between meals. Breakfast at 6 or 7am, lunch at 12 or 1pm, and dinner at 5 or 5:30pm, Do not eat after 6pm..................
Suggestions: Try eating an apple before each meal. Use a smaller plate, and put just half the amount of food on your plate at each meal. Eat about 3 to 4 ounces of lean meat, fish or tuna, fresh green vegetables, salad, tea and water. Be sure each meal has protein, grains and vegetables. Breakfast: 3 oz of lean meat, oatmeal, toast and 4 oz of orange juice.
**Do not eat bread, potatoes, chips, products high in salt content, sweets, lunch meats, sodas, diet sodas, or pastas.
**Exercise by walking around your block after eating the evening meal. Increase your walk by 5 minutes each day, work up to a 30 minute walk.

asap? that is so unhealthy.
the consept of losing wait qoute unqoute FAST is such an overrated topic.
lose the 'a.s.a.p.' motto and maybe you'll get somewhere, join a gym and google some HEALTHY diets that isn't anything you have ot call in or order or sign up to
just look up facts about carbs and calories, etc. and how it would suit YOUR body type.
