actually what really bother me is that some people is unable to see than the undocumented actually compete with each other not with the USA citizens which are required to take jobs which require higher skills such as management as the sole presence of the undocumented creates that kind of jobs . it also bothers me that some people is unable to see than the states in which there is more undocumented are the most productive and essential for the whole USA . it bothers me than they are unable to understand than the best we can do before complaining about schooling is to understand that a high school graduate will contribute more than someone with out high school and that someone with college will contribute more than one with high school , so therefor sending or giving school to ANYONE only benefits the USA it doesn't affects it .
i will copy and paste something so u see what really has been going on for the last 30 years :
Study: Immigrants Increase Domestic Workers' Wages
March 15, 2007 — The influx of immigrants does not take jobs away from the state's existing workforce, but rather increases domestic workers' wages, according to a Public Policy Institute of California study released last month.
During the record-high inflow of immigrants from 1990 to 2004, wages of domestic workers have increased between 3 and 7 percent for workers with at least a high school diploma, and 0.2 percent for workers who have not earned a high school diploma.
Spearheaded by Giovanni Peri, an associate professor of economics at UC Davis, the study is based on data collected from 1960 to 2004. The report found that immigrants tend to opt for lower-end jobs that require little communication or management skills, such as those including manual labor.
=> According to the US Department of Commerce, a high school graduate earns $1.2 million in a 40-year span compared to $2.1 million for a person with a Bachelor’s degree. A person with a master’s degree has an average earning of $2.5 million in a 40-year span. iii
==> Therefore, a single person with a bachelor’s degree who earns an average $60,000 of taxable income will contribute $11,564 to taxes and welfare annually; in a 40-year span he/she will have contributed $462,560. iv

It might be better to stop the 3 million illegals from all over the world that come here on visas that our country gives them and they they hid in the country when the visa expires. That's a big problem. Then we need to work with the Mexican authorities for a criminal data base. At present there are 300,000 in the Fed pens and they guesstamate another 300,000 in state jails*.
Now I would also include for immediate deportation not only the visas jetsetter crowd, but also the 1 in 7 that are caught on our southern border with Mexico that are from "terrorist sponsoriing" countries (State Department)*
Now they say they caught about 800,000 a year and if 1 in 7 is from a terror country then that's over 100,000, for how many years. These must be sent away also. These groups could very well be over 40 million (MM).
Next you have the folks from South America, guesstament in St. Louis alone over 200,000 Brazilians(illegal). Tons from other countries. I had no idea until the Peru guy killed someone they were here, but should have known.
Once these things are done, then is when you address the others, and you will be able to do it in an organized and fair way, since they were here first and the employers have been paying them a little more and not paying any FICA or work comp and hurting the system. I wonder sometimes how much more body armour could have been bought if they had actually taken out taxes, instead of scr*wing them and the country. The fence will solve some of this and then the visa situation needs to be cut by 90%. The fence in Sandiego cut it all by 90% and that's a fact.
until we come we get this think under contrl millions will be swarming n here from all over. So cut the 3 million a year visa guys, cut the drugs, give law enforcement a chance to breathe.
I also suggest that the Mexican government, which is very tight on immigration stop their southern border and any ships or planes bringing other in from other parts of the world. It is once again imperative that they supply a criminal data base. It is ironic that a country that is so strict on immigration allows other to migrate illegally to another country. They must know it is not is their best interest.
Anyway if we can do all that then the rest that are here will be judged fairly I abelieve. It's just too many from all over. Now Bush did cut legal immigration to 1.25 million from a high that Clinton did at 2.5 million a year, but that's going to be over 30 milion new Americans. Something has to give. The illegals are targets of crime and the Aericans of all nationalities are also. Stop the drugs and allow the country to heal. It's only fair.
Any Democrat or Republican that thinks different is bordering on being an insane traitor in my book. Tha'ts my take Take care.

The fastest growing region for illegal immigration is the South..... The Southeast that is with Georgia leading the way (the illegal immigrant population doubled in just 5 short years). The Southeastern states with the exception of the new Georgia laws do NOT have any policies or laws to deal with non citizens, I don't have to tell you that Georgia is not a border state...... Illegal immigrants are spreading out now and moving further into the Eastern states and up the East Coast...
Illegal immigration is shared by all taxpayers, even those in states that are not heavily affected by illegal immigration (as yet)
While California by far outnumbers any other state for total illegal immigrants, it is also a huge state and per capita some of the smaller states are the ones being hit very hard by illegal immigration.

I doesn't bother me, at one point or another we all came from different places/countries. The only Americans are the Native Americans, after these groups, every generation after that who came to the USA arrived by boat, plane or other ways are all immigrants. All these groups cross many borders - and took what ever jobs were available at the moment because someone had to do it!! I see a repetitive pattern going on right now, what is going on?? Wake up, in America everyone pay taxes whether your status is "legal or illegal" and it's the reality.

I live in the area that you write about, South Texas.
There is nothing positve for any one. True, wages are down, even with legals living in Mexico - so on, so on. These keeps living citizens in ST struggling for better living conditions - such as the Coloñias.
As for lower food prices, negative, the food supply here is lower grade then else where, I've seen it first hand. Unless your in the higher wage bracket, you buy what you can afford. Proof is in the lower health & living conditons in the area.
As for service costs, look at the Physician data base, there is a strong lacking of them in the area. As for taxes, illegals do not pay taxes: unless they buy items, just remember that visitng tourists can request tax exempt for export only - so where are the taxes? So, yea, we spread the tax burden nationally, we all pay the difference.

It is not correct.
Sites that examine the costs of the illegal aliens are very numerous. One that is particularly good is the Heritage Foundation and they examine the costs in depth. In fact, within twenty years the total cost of the illegal aliens will be in the area of 2.4 trillion dollars if Amnesty is provided. There is far more to the issue, but we also need to discuss the medical costs which have closed something like 400 hospitals, and will close more as Federal Funds for the hospitals serving the illegal aliens stops in 2008. Schools, and with limited funds, are providing multilingual course work and the effect of that is to limit the types of programs that can be made available to the citizens of this country.
Per lower food prices... we will save billions in welfare if the illegal aliens are sent home, and the increased cost of produce will cost about eight dollars a month. Sites that support that are found at ....

The fact is, illegal aliens are very, very expensive workers.

Ok the negative effects are concentrated in the southwest... maybe but the negative effects are impacting all the states. And they arent just competing for low wage jobs, who told you that? One of my customers is a heavy equipment operator in a quarry, his freind had a fight with thier supervisor. He got fired, and replaced by an illegal who doesnt know beans (no pun intended) about operating the equipment. One case out of thousands? Not hardly. I recommend you watch Lou Dobbs on CNN once in awhile and get some better data.

Let me see if I understand the essence of your question. Since the illegals are mainly in the southwest it's only their problem and the rest of us should be happy since a head of lettuce is only $1.39 instead of $1.59?
Sorry, but exploiting them so we can save a few bucks at Walmart hardly seems right. Do you really think there should be "competition" for low wage jobs? What does that mean?
We opened plants in Mexico after NAFTA and other free trade agreements and all that happened was we lost jobs here and they still kept coming over.
Seems to me, if they can't make their own country work why should they sneak over here and take advantage of what our forfathers built? I have no problem with LEGAL immigrants (yes, I know a few) I just wonder about the caliber of people that avoid the process.

I mean no direspect but where are those lower food prices. After a purchase there is like I believe a food tax and three addition taxes. It also worries me much of our food arrives out of China whom have discovered loopholes in the trade laws at times we have food never meant for public comsumption. All you losied is a good concept but our basic right to have food that is safe and eatable.

First let me correct a couple of flaws in your question. Illegal immigration does not lower food prices and service costs. Also, most illegal immigrants pay no taxes.
As far as feeling the negative effects of illegal immigration such as stolen jobs, I saw alot of that first hand in the Gulf Coast area after Hurricane Katrina. So many of the natives were broke, homeless, and jobless, but the majority of the thousands of jobs created by the need to repair casinos were mostly filled by illegal immigrants hired by unscrupulous contractors. So much for the "only taking jobs Americans don't want" nonsense. I've known plenty of construction workers and I never met one who said there was just too much work available that they didn't want.

I think the feds just need to make some decision to deal with it so it isn't left to further anger people. That would be best in the long run and short term for both the illegals and the citizens no matter what they decide. 20 million people are waiting to hear their fate and struggling on a daily basis.
