How much would me and my husband get when we move from South Korea to Ft. Benning Ga in January? We ARE married and we have a 7 month old little girl.
Someone told me that the army allows you so much per person to move your family if this is true is there a link I could go to to find out how much or could someone estimate it for me?
Any help would be great!!!!
Thanks,
Lauren

the military will move your HHG at no charge to you. the only other funds you get would be DLA(fixed rate, I think it is like $1755 for E5 and below w/D. ) and per diem, which is a meal allotment and money for the hotel you stay in while looking for a place to live at the new duty station(maximim amount $99/day).

you are authorized ten days TLA at the outgoing duty station( hotel and meals) because it is OCONUS. then you are authorized ten days at the new duty station. Normally, it is ten days total between the two.

Because you are overeas you will not necessarily qualify for the same money that others get when they do a CONUS to CONUS move. You can't do a DITY (Do It Yourself) move because you are overseas. Movers will come in and pack your belongings up into crates and ship it to the next command. You will then be flown to the closest airport to the next command. A place ticket will be provided for each of you including the child.

Now if you have a car in storage then there is a high possibility that you will be shipped to where the car is. For example if it is in Los Angeles, then you will be flown to LA, p/u the vehicle and then you will qualify for mileage and per diem rates for driving to Ft Benning. The mileage is .20 per mile (max of 350 miles per day) and then a per diem rate of $109 for AD member, 75% of that for dependents over 12, and 50% of that for dependents under 12.

You will also qualify for DLA which is Dislocation Allowance, it is to pay for rental cars, new groceries, deposits, etc... When you get to Ft Benning you will qualify for 10 days of TLE which is a max of $180 per day while looking for a place to stay. After that you must pay out of pocket with the BAH you receive for that area.

When you move from duty station to duty station you get so much per car per mile..... your family gets so much per family memeber per day to eat with and money for hotels. It depends on how long it takes for you to get from 1 duty station to another.
It also matters if you are doing a dity move or if you are letting the army move you.

Are you stationed in South Korea with him? They usually only let higher enlisted do that.

Here's an article on the entitlements associated with a PCS move: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/travelpay/a/pcsentitlements.htm

It varies depending on rank, how much weight you move, how many miles you move, if you move yourself or if the army moves you, etc etc etc. It varies from family to family. Have your husband talk to JIPSO.
