I have been told by Christians that I am a horrible mother who doesn't love her children because I am not Christian. I have been told I am leading my daughter to hell and should have her taken away from me. I have been told my gods are "false", "demonic", and that I am stupid to believe in them. I have been told my religion is "make believe" and that if I don't repent then I will rot and I deserve it. I have been told my religion is the dowfall of the United States. I have been sneered at, judged, and damn near spit on. And when it's all said and done, I am told "it's for my own good" that they "are just trying to save me" (I guess I'm not smart enough to save myself?) and that I WILL believe one day whether I like it or not.
Why on earth would I choose to let that in my life and around my kids? Why on earth would ANYONE? While not all Christians are like this, its the ones that ARE that are asking why people don't like them. You SERIOUSLY wonder?

Everything states above was said to me in response to my not being a Christian. Nothing more or less. I was usually just blindsided by it.

NH: I dont hate god. I dont even hate Christians. I'm sick of them yes. I am tired of thier arrogance and thier attempts to "scare me straight". But GOD never said these ugly things to me. Just his followers.

Ignorance and Arrogance go hand in hand.

I hope some wonder. I hope some take an honest look at their "brothers" and "sisters" are doing in the name of their religion. I hope they can see that most people of other, minority, religions don't do such things in the name of our Gods and Goddess', trying to persuade others that what we believe in is real. I know what I believe in is real... I don't need someone else to validate it for me. I hope they realize that when they say you are a horrible mother based soley on the fact that you are not a Christian makes them a false witness. I hope they realize that their own Bible tells them that how they judge others, they will be judged as well... and by the same measure (they always seem to forget these rules THEY are supposed to be following). It's not for YOUR good they are doing it. It's for their EGO. Like when they say "Would you let someone walk off a cliff?" in reference to them helping you get saved... I usually reply "No, but I don't bash their head in with a 2x4 to stop them either" =)

If they actually wonder why people of other religions don't like them, then it only proves they have blinders on. No one can expect to be treated with respect when all they do is lie about others and treat them like crap.

I don't hate Christianity in general. I don't hate the Christians God. I can't stand those people though who think they know me better than I know myself... or that their God died and left them in charge over everyone else. I can't stand people who think they have some kind of authority just because they can quote the Bible, when 90% of the time (and I'm being generous here) they don't even know what the hell it's talking about because they have never done a reference study in their life. I have no respect for people who treat others the way you have shown you have been treated. And I live to treat them the same way they treat others... ;-)

That's why I quit going to church, think I'll move my letter to The First Church of Yahoo Answers.
You don't have to look at those kind every Sun. I can go to church everyday, wouldn't miss it for anything. When I read a stupid answer or question, all I have to read is a couple of words and I can skip to the next stupid ones.
Just remind them that no one comes to Father unless the spirit draws them and so far you haven't had a invitation. Tell them as soon as you get an invitation that they will be the first ones to know. Don't forget to tell them, it's Christmas and the mail might get there late and they might just loose it in the jumble or it might get run over by a reindeer.
Leaving all jokes aside, I was so miserable and unhappy that I had no choice but leave or lose my mind. I still have Church members come up to me and tell me I know better and I am going to hell. Now I just smile and go on my way, the can't get to me any longer. I don't know who these people or to you or if the are neighbors or you made the mistake of going to church with them, bad mistake, it's hard hard to get rid of them. They are like the energizer bunny, they keep going and going and going.

Holy smokes, Heathen Daughter, where do you live? I'm sure it is a beautiful place, the 'goddess shows beauty everywhere, but the people there are showing an ugliness I never want to see.

I am sure there are some Christians who do seriously wonder, and I hope they read your post, and I hope they take your words seriously. I hope they ABSORB what your experience has been, and take it back to their friggin' churches and congregations, and at least try to spread the word to their fellow Christians that this sort of behavior does go on, and shouldn't they all just cut it out right now!!!!!

The unfortunate truth is that a lot of them won't see themselves in your words, or, if they do, they will go along their merry way, justifying their rotten behavior to themselves, thinking that Christ is on their side an dis going to support them in belittling, demeaning, and attacking you.

they should read their own bible and try to live up to some of its kinder passages, I know there are SOME in there.

Hang in there my friend. The Goddess is back, and She is heading for everywhere.

Bright Blessings,
Lady Morgana )0(

I'm really sorry for your experience - no one should be treated that way, especially by those who consider themselves religious. I haven't had it nearly that bad.

Unfortunately, the "christian" movement is like that. They have the my way or the highway attitude and have been empowered about 7 years ago with a big win in politics. I sincerely hope it is a fad, and that religion goes back to being a personal issue, rather than a "be saved or we kick your @ss" kinda thing.

I used to be Catholic, and one thing that I still admire about that religion is that it is, at least where and how I practiced it, a personal issue. We never went door to door to convert, or we never witnessed or evangalized in any way. It was up to you to save yourself, if you so chose to, and nobody was pushy about it. I can't say all are like that, but I admire the ones that are because they leave others alone.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm a Christian, but many of us are very judgemental (shouldn't be), and are not sensitive to people who have other beliefs. Although I don't agree with beliefs that do not go in line with the Bible, I don't disrespect people, and say "you're wrong". The strongest I may say at times is "I don't believe that", but that's it. I may also offer a chance to explain what I believe, but if they don't want to hear it, than that's their choice. There are many people who are not Christians, and have good hearts. The truth is, all of us Christians have done wrong before, so how can we judge someone else.

I even have some who're very close to to me, and that i understand i'm able to believe them with something :) some i comprehend a great deal - yet you realize, we are only like everybody else, I even have love for all yet have my favorites, in basic terms as in genuine life while we decide for acquaintances, there are some human beings we in basic terms gel with and others we don't :) would not advise we do in comparison to them - there are some I believe to maintain close to to me extra effective than others :) super families do no longer continuously believe one yet another, yet there is usually a binding mutually on some point, with Christians that is believing in our Lord Jesus Christ. i'd desire to assert tho, i do no longer continuously see different Christians as my brothers and sisters, it is not probably something we are saying right here interior the united kingdom, yet I do have a deep deep love for many right here and do confer with some with the affectionate term of 'bro' or 'sis' ... I do understand and connect with the spirit in them :) I hear to the middle and not the words that come out of the mouth :)) So there, you have it, in basic terms being honest :)) bless you for asking! ~~~~ Edit: in basic terms interpreting your further information: to apply a number of the words a typical guy or woman as quickly as used: Froth and bubble come from the mouth, yet from the the middle comes the actuality ~ we can talk a solid talk and all of it seems nice an fantastically, yet what's quite in ones coronary heart :) desire you realize what i'm attempting to place over :) that's a brilliant question - you have some super solutions, desire you get lots extra :) Edit: Sorry that is getting slightly long, had to function this: I so like the way poster ''Sultry'' positioned it, now there is going a good woman - comprehend!! :))

I think they do wonder yes, because they have their heads so far up their own butts that they don't realise how annoying, frustrating, rude and non-christian they are! Luckily for me, and unluckiliy for you, the majority of these type of 'Christians' seem to be in America (and I'm in Australia) but I do have to put up with them on the internet. As far as I am concerned anyone who lives their life acting in a respectful way towards themselves and others, treating everyone fairly and with kindness and tolerance and is happy, and brings their children up to do/be the same has to be a good person.

I'm so sorry Heathen Daughter, you do not deserve to have this judgement heaped upon you. I can imagine how you feel, my own mother tells me how I will suffer God's judgement and how irresponsible I am for not bringing my children up in Church. She doesn't even know I am basically an Atheist but she knows I reject the church. She's on her knees about me a lot, I can assure you. She used to pee me off so bad, on a couple of occasions when I actually let my kids go to her house, she'd throw headphones on them and play tapes in an effort to try to download a bunch of religious rhetoric into them as fast as she could before they left. Grrr......

Frustrated isn't the right word. Disgusted, appalled, infuriated, repulsed and nauseated are probably more applicable.
People like that are the worst kind of arrogant, hypocritical wastes of oxygen that keep mankind wallowing in primitive fear and ignorance. I often wonder what kind of amazing things the human race might have accomplished at this point in our evolution if we weren't burdened with the curse of Abrahamic religions. And how peaceful and pleasant the world might be.
I think we could benefit greatly from more Pagans in the world and we could do without blowhard Christian zealots entirely.

Unfortunately it is the idiots such as those that you have encountered that have led many people away from their god. I am sure that their god will punish them in his own time.

They should remember that Christ showed his temper VERY infrequently - at the money changers in the temple and when his disciples tried to keep the children away from him. He never showed anger at "sinners" in fact, he ate with them in their home, for which he was greatly criticized by the religious people of his day (does the latter sound like anyone you talked about in your question?).
