My two wonderful kitty's get in my X-Mas tree, and I can't do anything about it. What do I do?

Cats like to climb so cats like trees! Even if you put up a fake one, they will still try to climb it. From their viewpoint, the higher up I am, the better I can see around me. Goes with the territory of having cats. Anyway, there are 2 products I will recommend that have worked for us. 1 is called Pssst!--basically a simple motion detector that lets out a loud hisssssss! when cat starts hanging around. It is basically canned air and harmless. 2nd would be static matts. Looks kind of like a clear, floor matt, but gives the cat a slight static "shock" when they try to walk on in that area and touch it. Doesn't hurt them....rather more like when you take clothes out of the dryer type. The one we have is electrical and needs to be plugged in. Don't know if the newer ones have batteries or not. We tried the citrus/lemony airwick solid things. pokey matts, cans filled with marbles to shake if they go near it and none of those worked. The Pssst! did work the best for us. Can be purchased at local pet store usually for $24-$30.

kitty's have claws, and you brought a tree into the house, and you wonder why they won't stay out of it??? this is the best play toy you have ever brought home to them. well they are cats, and going to do what every they want to do. don't put any decorations up on the tree yet. just give it a few days and see if they get bored with it. lay tin-foil out around it so they can't get to the tree without stepping on the foil. they might not like it and leave it alone. if they don't, then think about a fake tree next year, cause you ain't going to stop them from getting into it.

There isn't a cat alive that wouldn't dive into a Christmas tree. It's the best toy ever! My sister has a picture of her cat sleeping on one of the branches of her Christmas tree. You can try spraying your cats with water but a lot of cats would just go for the tree anyway. Be careful about putting breakable decorations in the tree. Also avoid decorations that are small or dangerous for your cats if they knock them on the floor and play with them. Leave the lights unplugged when you are not in the room in case your cats chew on the cords.

It's why we don't have a tree here anymore.

It's best to put the tree in a room with a door so the cats can be shut out of it especially at night.

Shake the tree vigorously until they fall out!!! j/k

Try to squirt them with plain water in a plant water bottle. That should help...
