the 410 will work fine for home defense ,because it is small the danger of the shot passing through the wall is alot less.Would recommend either #4 or #5 shot to even less the danger.I would get a pump action over the semi auto, you dont have to worry about jams and the racking of a pump shotgun is the most intimidating sound in the world and one that every bad guy recognizes.that's one reason law enforcement use a pump is the physiological effect of that sound

A .410 (caliber) shotgun is a very good choice for home defense. It's small, light and easily controlled.

With the proper shells for it, you should be able to prevent excessive penetration.

There is an inherent issue with all firearms that they are capable of shooting at least 1 mile.

Keep in mind, the .410 shotgun can be much more powerful than all, but the largest, handguns.

With that said, I personally have a .45 1911 for personal defense and a Mossberg 12 gauge for home defense.

For future reference, .410 is a caliber, not a gauge. The .410 chambering is more properly referred to as a .410 bore. Referring to it as a .410 shotgun is the most common and acepted way to refer to it.

A .410 gauge shotgun is more powerful for a self-defense weapon than any handgun in the home. I would get a pump before a self-loader. I believe they still make those buck loads (3 buckshor pellets single stacked). They came in packs of three.

It's 410 gauge. The shotgun you mention will work fine for a lightweight and effective home protection shotgun. Light recoil, but more than enough shot in each shell to do the "job" if needed.Good Luck!

first of all it is a .410 gage shotgun. it can kill someone very easily. a .410 is a small gage shotgun which can fire either a shot load or a pumpkin ball. since there is not too much kick, it is usually used by younger people and some women....however some men also use it. i hunted with one for several year a few years back

First, a 410 ga is a shotgun, not a rifle. And it quite possibly could still kill your next door neighbours. I have had a 410 for over 25 yrs, and it is still very much a weapon... even more dangerous when operated by someone unfamiliar with it. A big, mean-looking dog is one of the best defense systems for your home.
