so right now i have 2 main computers that i use. one's running on windows xp media edition, and the other has windows xp.. (theres another one running on xp hope, but i never use that)...

so here's whats up. i pretty much get the jist of how to use windows and like fix minor problems with windows should anything go wrong. but i feel like its time for a change.

i was looking into the macbooks, but i really know nothing about them. i mean im sure all the programs run the same and it gets the job done... but from my standpoint, would you get the mac? or a dell running on windows? why?

by the way, i'm really into photography, pic editing and making videos and such. pic editing i can do just fine on windows.. but making videos is another story. you see, i have a sony handycam, but when i try to make a dvd, it plays kinda pixilated on my tv screen. will i have that same issue with iMovie?

and i currently attend school, and my school computers run on windows, so...

The new Macs are compatible with most of the new camcorders out there. You can edit with iMovie and create a DVD with iDVD without any problems for the most part, but they do have problems once in a while.
iWorks and M$ Office 2004 will be pre-installed on the Mac, both are trial versions and have PP. A free donationware office like program that is compatible with Windows Office 2007 is NeoOffice found here http://www.neoffice.org
Go to a nearest Apple store with a flash drive. Create a PP presentation with iWorks or Office 2004 (if it's running), copy it to the flash drive and see if it'll open with your PC program at home.
As for the school you will be attending. If Mac OS X isn't compatible with the schools network, you can install Windows on the Mac with Boot Camp.

Not all applications that work on windows can work on Mac. You will have to get Powerpoint which is compatible with Mac to use. I would rather get a pc than a mac. Macs are nice to use but a burden when installing programs on it. My macbook lasted only 6 months because it could not startup and would just stay at the apple startup page and frezzes and restarts.

This should answer and Mac questions you have - aside from visiting an Apple store and actually trying one. A Mac would be ideal for Photography and making movies in iMovie08

If your making a power point presentation on a Mac, show it on a Mac - don't transfer it to PC becasue it will corrupt even though PowerPoint works on Mac and PC.

You don't need to put a doc from a Mac onto a PC to print it - you print it on the Mac.

Macs have been doing Office since 1987.
