On my way to the vet my cat somehow escaped our of my vehicle while I was driving. I looked for him every where but the area was just too vast of an area to cover entirely. I was upset but some small part of me kinda didnt like him. I knew he didnt care for me much either. He seemed to like my friend though. He hated to be pet and torn up my stuff. I am left with over a dozen scratches from his wrath. He was my first cat, I am dog lover but in a apartment having one would be too demanding. Anyhoos, I found a stray and I dont know if I should keep it or take it to a pet shelter. I have given her/him the name Joe for the time bring. I want to keep it but honestly maybe the last one escaped for a reason. Then again my husband is in a different state and I am started to be annoyed with being alone. I dont know.. what do you think?

If you keep it, invest in a pet carrier to put the cat in when you take him outside of your house, in the car, etc. That way your cat will be safely secured in the vehicle. If you and the cat are getting along it might be worth a try.

If you think you can care for it properly, a cat can be a good companion, I wouldn't take it to a shelter unless I absolutely had to. Also you need to think about, what if your old cat comes back? Would it fight? You should do all the right things to find its owner if it has one. You know posters, news paper add, shop windows. But at the end of the day, so many are feral these days. Keep it, de-sex it and give it a loving home. Or to take it to a shelter to sit and hope for a chance. No guilt should be in your decision. You should do what feels right. Good Luck. I'm a cat lover. I have 5. Desexed.

From the sound of it, you might not be a cat person. How is the stray taking to you? If s/he accepts you and feels comfortable around you, perhaps this is the cat for you. If not, you really need to ask yourself whether you have the time and inclination to give a cat a good home. Using the cat just because you don't feel right alone is not a good reason. You have to love a cat for itself, or the relationship will never work.

If you do choose to keep it please do so with the intent that he will be with you for the rest of his life which can be up to 20 years. I think adopting strays is a wonderful thing but it's best when they go to a permanent home. Changing your mind later and rehoming or dumping them is actually very, very hard on them. If you think you can provide him a permanent home then take him to your vet and talk to him about cat behavior and care so that you have an idea of what to expect and if it's the right pet for you. Even dog lovers can grow to love a cat but you have to go into it with the right frame of mind. Good Luck

cats are very good companions, i should know. what you should do, that is, if the cat is a real stray take it to the vet and get it checked out, shots and all. after that it'll keep you company just because you took care of it. pets are smart like that. and if your other cat doesn't show up pray that he'll find a good home, too.

You should keep the cat if the the other cat did not like to be petted you should keep the other kitty. It sounds exactly like my cat I had.We had a cat the same way the cat atcced my mom really bad and I found a kitten after we put him to sleep. That cat may be dead by now.I think you should keep it because that cat will not come back.Your cat had something wrong with it because he did not like to be petted by you.

Rabbits can carry a lot of diseases and parasites that are not good for cats. I would say that your kitten contracted something from eating the rabbit. From what you describe I would not consider it related to the spaying. In order to keep your cats safe and prevent this from happening again you really should keep them inside.

I'd say no to another cat, you clearly aren't someone who is cut out to be a cat owner.

Go out and get some human friends, keeping socialized while your husband is gone will do you a world of good.
