or is this common for it to look like this at the beginning of a sentence?

lol. I think it's fine if it looks that way. If it really bothers you though, when you type you could always try using a different font which makes the i like a sideways H.

If you use a sans-serif font like the one used on Yahoo! Answers, it does look a little odd. For your own writing, just pick a font like Verdana or Times New Roman, to name two of the most common. And don't worry, the context of your sentence will make your meaning clear, even if the font makes the first word look strange.

I do see your point, but the standard English keyboard was not meant to write in French, so you can get a French keyboard. Then you’d also have all 26 French vowels to boot.

thats how it looks becuase the i is capital I and the lower case l looks tha same way. Il

use ALL CAPS--this way, the word HE becomes IL in French.

You could replace Il with "C'est lui qui," which means "He's the one who..."

Use a seriph font instead of a sans-seriph.

Courier is a seriph font that will work. Arial wont.
