I am getting a .22 LR with a barrel for a 20 gauge shotgun and I am wondering whether or not I would be able to shoot a slug effectively out of it. Also, I would like to know if the afforementioned gun, a .22 LR with a 20 gauge barrel for $99 is a good deal? I think it is but I'm not a gun man...

If the 20 gauge shotgun barrel you are about to buy to fit your firearm has an Improved Cylinder Bore or IC Choke you can easily and safely shoot rifled slugs thru it...Check with the clerk at the firearms counter where you buy your Rossi and inquire as to what choke the barrel is and if it is capable of shooting slugs thru it.....

$99 sounds like a great deal but you didn't mention what brand of firearm it is or a model number

jcmiller.... FYI..The Asker has purchased an inter-changeable rifle & shotgun combination (Two seperate barrels). He isn't trying to shoot a 22 caliber bullet out of a 20 gauge shotgun!

YES...For a Rossi thats a GREAT DEAL!

Yes you can...
Years ago I used an Ithaca /SKB 300 with Modified choke. NO problems. As long as ANY 20 gauge in Good Condition can have slugs fired thru any choke. Full, Modified or Improved Cylinder.

Yes you can I in fact killed my first deer many years back with a 20 gauge slug. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. JD??? Before this huntin season I bought a Rossi 243/20 gauge for my daughter. Paid 200 bucks for it and it is definitely a sweet little gun.

If you cant then you better tell that to the dozen or so I have taken over the years with one. They gonna be mighty upset...

JCmiller.....ever heard of switching barrels. They sell an awful lotta weapons now (even tri-fectas) where you just switch out the barrel.

Rossi was selling theirs for 200 bucks this weekend. That one is a .243/20gauge/.22LR.

Sweet totin' iron....

I don't believe a 22 will accept a 20 gauge barrel. They are dramatically different in size. A 20 Gauge slug is about as round as a nickel. A 22 is like a pencil. I have owned both. I'm not trying to sound like an ahole but you should research it before you buy it.-Jason

hi there
an excellent price i would say, and if it is full or modified choke you can shoot slugs through it, most travell around 1600 hundred feet per second, and pack quite a punch, but you should get some shells and get out on the range so you know where your gun hits at different yardages good luck good to a hundred yards .

Absolutely as long as it has a cylinder or improved cylinder choke. Use Remington Slugger slugs in it..**You got a Real Good Deal on that Gun.**

as far as I thought it was part of a youth matched pair, so if you are bordering on being a full size adult, you may want to think about the size...relative to the stock and length of barrel....you would want to get a combo set that is designed for adults....I think the 20 gauge .243 is for full size people.......
