I am curious as to how people pray 5 or 7 times a day. How much time do they spend on each prayer and what do you pray about?

Thanks a bunch!

In Islam, Salaat is the name for the obligatory prayers which are performed five times a day, and are a direct link between the worshipper and God.

There is no hierarchical authority in Islam, and no priests, so the prayers are led by a learned person who knows the Quran, chosen by the congregation. These five prayers contain verses from the Quran, and are said in Arabic, the language of the Revelation, but personal supplication can be offered in one's own language.

Prayers are said at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset and nightfall, and thus determine the rhythm of the entire day. Although it is preferable to worship together in a mosque, a Muslim may pray almost anywhere, such as in fields, offices, factories and universities. Visitors to the Muslim world are struck by the centrality of prayers in daily life.

Prayer duration is up to the person performing them and can take between several minutes, and up to 20 minutes or so, depending on how many raka'as are performed and the length of the recited surah verses.

nice question! well most of us should really be praying a lot more! nowadays most people just say a prayer just becuz but people one or two or longer prayed sooo much more they could stay hours on there knees and pray! im not sure if it was John Wesley or A. W. Tozer or someone else but this man went out in the snow fell on his knees and just prayed for like 4 hours! by the time he got back up the snow that had surronded his knees had all mellted away.

OK, I think I pray more than 5-7 times per day. I pray for my needs and the needs of others.I give praise and thanks to Him. I seek out His will for different issues in life. Prayer need not be a formal thing. Sometimes it is just dialog with the Father. It is privileged fellowship with Him. If you love someone, it is natural to talk with them....right? It is like that for me with my Heavenly Father. Sometimes I have spent most of the day talking with Him. You need not be on your knees to talk to the Lord.It is good to be reverent but God will hear you no matter where you are or what position your body is in. I give Him praise and stop to pray while washing the dishes and doing my housework. Whatever I am doing, He is there with me. He always listens and I love to spend time with Him. It seems very natural to pour out my heart to Him. He cares for me. I can talk to Him on any subject and I talk to Him about everything. May the Lord bless you! Good question!

My dear, The Bible says for us to Pray without Ceasing... That means we just fellowship with God and Pray about whatever is on our Hearts continuously. He Is Always with us Listening to our Hearts and hearing every Prayer even as a whisper. You Pray about things that mean something to you. Things that you cannot accomplish But God Can. Pray for you and your families Health and Protection and safety. Pray for your Needs. Most of all, always "Thank Him for His Goodness and Love and many Blessings He gives You Daily." Just Talk with Him Any where and any place...NO RITUALS OR CANDLES ARE NEEDED> It is a very personal thing.

I pray for safety,I pray for my family and others I care about,I pray for my church and things I want and need.I also pray to just give thanks and for not taking the little things for granted that many people find difficult to do,like walking and talking for example.Time for prayer varies day by day-I'm not always in a dark room when I pray.

in judaism we pray four times: shacharis, musaf, mincha, and maariv.
the length is always the same except on the first of the jewish month and holidays. on those days we usually add prayers. on yom kippur we fast and stay at synagogue all day praying.

well you pray 3 times a day to thank God for the provision of food then you pray every other time when you feel that you need God spiritually or when you need someone to confide in. you need to pray for forgivness of your sins and to praise him. i usually turn to God when everything else fails or when i am making a big decision.

It's easy to pray several times a day if you love God
They dont have to be long or deep, they could be as simple as 'thanks God for the weather'.
You can also pray about ANYTHING and i mean ANYTHING. God will alway listen and want to know more
:D
