When you die and "see the light" do you think you will believe in heaven or will you recognize this experience as merely a natural sensation produced by an oxygen starved brain?

(i'm not an atheist)

what i am really saying is - do you think you will be fooled - as others (who came back) have?

i'm talking about the last couple of seconds before your brain dies - not when your actually dead.

This has been proven to be a naturally occurring phenomenon. You can test this yourself. Put a plastic bag over your head and deprive your brain of oxygen. You will notice flashes of light and spots in the vision. When i die i suppose it will be eternal blackness.

hhmmm as an atheist i do wonder if there is "another" side. Some say there is nothing just blackness and your there. Others (religous folk) believe in the golden gates of heaven. Now even thought i believe in no god and such i think that there might be a spirit life maybe reincarnation. Have you ever noticed how some animals seem to have human like personalitys? Think about it?

If you dream of a light at the end of a tunnel does that mean you died in your sleep and came back to life?

You answered your own question. Yes, an oxygen starved brain.

I would go for the second answer, but that would never come in the way of it being beautiful.

Understanding something and taking the meaning out of it are two separate things.

Yes, an oxygen deprived brain! Like when you pass out from holding your breathe, try it...

My father did "pass" briefly and came back.
He said he saw nothing.
He has been a lifelong Catholic and was hoping to see something.

I am an atheist.

When you die your brain dies. Hello?

I'd think of it as a natural sensation, since that's what it has been proven to be. Why would you think that I'd think otherwise?
