i have just bought a surround sound dvd system and it says that the tv could be heard through the speakers but in my tv which is a 2004 wega sony tv has no audio outputs. I have a vcr that has audio in and out with 2 outlets one for video the other for audio. I want to know if its possible to connect my surround with my tv or if i can do something through the vcr. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If your VCR has audio out.
Connect your cable/antenna to the VCR RF input
Connect video out from the VCR to the TV
Connect audio output from the VCR to the receiver audio input.

Yes, if you use your VCR as the audio output, you should be in business with your surrpound system although it won't decode Dolby Digital or DTS. If you want that, you will need to connect a reciever that decodes those formats directly to a DVD player or cable box.

ok 1 question....do you connect through a cable box? if so...connect audio through that way......if you want to use the VCR you are going to have to have it turned on at all times and surf the channels through the VCR...not the best. If your stereo has a pass-through (cable in/Out to TV) this would allow you to use it also.
