The Air Force flies some of the largest planes in the world.

But, as far as the fastest, most maneuverable... it's about a push. Navy pilots can land on and take off from small, moving airports. The Air Force can't.

Navy pilots do it in tiny little airplanes. They do it in the dark and rain on moving little islands in the middle of the ocean. They do it anywhere you cannot do it. They are also short.

Air Force pilots do it in anything that flies. They do it on land near an Officer's Club. They are also tall, dark and handsome.

Seriously, the tail hook to land on a carrier and the ability to take off on a carrier by the Navy is the only true difference between the services. No I haven't landed a plane on a carrier and a Navy Pilot hasn't flown a B52 with its 10 tires, 8 engines, 5 crew members, and 500,000 pounds of weight, but both of us can be taught easier to do the others job then getting a newbie to try to do it.

Navy pilots spend months at sea on an aircraft carrier, Air Force pilots go home at the end of the day.

Navy does quick strikes off Carriers, with a few supporting aircraft.

Air Force moves in and stays at land bases, has the big transports, keeps the Army supplied, the Marines too.

Air Force and Naval Aviation overlap a bit just like the Army and Marines overlap a bit.

Everybody has a job that is a little different from the other branch.

That first guy was Dead on with the tail hook comment. Takes bowling balls too seek out a moving target in the dark to land on.

A tremendous amount of skill. Any pilot can land on a runway, only a Naval Aviator can land on a ship.
