They fear new ideas, but only for a the time period it takes them to change their religion to accommodate a new answer. Then all the sheep follow that change and claim that as proof for the existence of God.

I think evolutionary theory is a real source of danger for religion, regardless of whether that religion is liberal or conservative, fundamentalist or moderate. It dismantles the core beliefs, contained in most traditional theistic religions, about the centrality of God in man’s life. Thus, evolution is, or should be a universal source of trepidation among the faithful.
It should be obvious how evolutionary theory decimates the fundamentalist point of view, because it demonstrates that a literal reading of the Bible is ultimately fallacious. Remove the cogency of a literal reading of the Bible, and you destroy fundamentalism.
What is not so obvious, to some, is that evolution also puts liberal non-literalist theism in a precarious situation as well. The mainstream religious movements, who have embraced evolution, are just as effected by evolution, but try to hide it by reading certain texts within the Bible as figurative. Nothing about the verbiage of these texts can render an allegorical reading, but the moderate has watered down the literal original meaning, so as to force fit evolutionary theory, or at least make it “compatible” with their belief system. A candid and objective assessment of liberal/moderate theism would come to the conclusion that this figurative reading is done more to save face, than out of liberals actually believing that these biblical narratives should be read as a metaphor.
In reality, the moderate, in his heart of hearts, is cognizant of the fact that even with this allegorical understanding of their Bible, evolution is quite at odds with their belief system, because evolution is far more than just a biological theory. Evolution, as a principle of gradual unguided change, can also be applied to analyze how human culture developed and how human morality developed. These two areas where the traditional prerogatives of religion.
Understanding humanity, not just biologically, but socially, politically, culturally, psychologically, and morally, through the lens of Darwinism, renders religion as quaint pageantry at best, and obsolete at worst.

I can't speak for other people, only for myself.
What is there about evolution that I should fear? I don't fear evolution, I just believe that God created every thing. And God has sufficiently proven to me that He does exists. I don't need any body else to either prove or disprove it to me.
With out God, I believe that there would be a decline in morality. But that is just my opinion.

The Church does NOT FEAR evolution. How can you fear something that is a FANTASY?
There is NO were EVER seen any evidence WHATSOEVER for evolution.
The Bible tells how God created everything AFTER ITS KIND.
FIND me a dog that evolved into ANYTHING but a DOG! CAN'T!!!
Find a HORSE that evolved into ANYTHING but a HORSE... CAN'T!!!
Evolution is a FALSE RELIGION. They want you to believe the impossible, tell you it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE, but give you NO proof of it EVER having happened.
HA... no , there is nothing for A believer in the TRUE GOD to fear from this falsified teaching.....

No.
Smart people were able to figure out a better way to make civilization, but we don't need it.
The Church does fear evolution because for a religion to live, it needs followers and more followers more power for the religion's leaders. There fore, they feared what you said above and evolution because it proves that god doesn't exist, or that we all aren't perfectly made by god to be superior to other creatures, and therefore other creatures could be superior.

The bible never asserts the world is the center of the universe. Why would christians fear evolution. With all the technology available today it still has eluded being proven a fact.
Why is it so believable to have faith in evolution but an existance of God is beyond the scope of believability.

Yes, some do.
What I call the 'grown up' denominations accept evolution: Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, even some Baptists. It's the far right ones that deny it.
Fundamentalism as we describe it arose due to a fearful backlash of the publication "On The Origins of Species".

Mine along with several "mainstream" churches does not since we encourage the teaching of it, but I know there are some fundamentalist churches that seem to be.
