Im about to bring home a 2 day old guinea and its mommy is there anything special i should do? i have other guinea so i know the basics but can they eat regular timothy hay... please help.... thanx

Yes, the baby pig should be able to eat anything the mum can eat. Especially good for the baby piggie would be some Alfalfa hay (high in calcium for building strong bones & teeth) and fresh veggies. The baby piggie can eat the same pellets as the mum and will also be nursing from her. You may also want to take a look at the height of the water bottle sipper tube. It may need to be lowered to accommodate the pup until it gets bigger.

Please note that male baby pigs become sexually mature at age 21 days, so if the pup is a boy, please separate it from the mum at 21 days or you will risk pregnancy. If the pup is a girl, she can stay with the mum indefinitely.

Amazingly, a newborn guinea pig can eat regular food and does fine without its mother's milk. It is also going to be a lot better socialized to humans.

Keep the newborn in warm surroundings, and try feeding bread soaked in milk, and soft foods. I think you have to bottle feed, so she can drink.
