Lion's style is a true method of animal-based martial art. The thing that most do not realize that when it comes to animal-based systems is that movements are not necessarily mimicked from the animal itself, but the emotion and mentality of the animal is emulated. For example, tiger represents aggression and fire. Otherwise, you can notice that there is a snake style, but if you have limbs, how could you possibly mimic the beast's movements??

I have little to no experience in actual lion style; the only experience I have is a bit in Hsing-Yi and, of course, lion dancing, so I can offer little in the way of pointing out any major differences between it and other animal-based systems.

When it comes to this particular school, however, I would look into it and actually ask the head instructor/owner about the methodology in which they work. I attended/taught at a school for a while called "White Dragon", but we practiced Choi Lai Fut - White Dragon was just the school name (I guess it sounds cool!). So, as others have pointed out, the name "Lion's Path" could have nothing to do with the actual martial art taught!

Oh, and just to split hairs, Chinese schools of martial arts are not referred to as "dojos"; that's Japanese....!

i guessing "lions" is a family name ..not a style per-se. Like "johnsons kung fu" . The school may have their own philiosophies, but i would ask to see about what the "style" of the kung fu that is beign trained.........its a common miss-conception. Then again i could be wrong and there may be a lion style...........ive never heard anything like it though...

There is a Chinese art called Lion-something... not sure, but I have seen video of it. It is very rare.

This is probably a catchy name they came up with. It could be a good school.
