Atheism...is more honest in some ways...because the person really does wonder...what do I believe? Many of us in religions...never get to that point...thus..they are just going through the motions. Atheism will usually focus on the now..and doing for the greater good of humanity with a focus on evolution. Many Atheists that I have met are so very close to God with their hearts for people....that they don't even realize it. Many of them greatly love others...and have a dear heart that hates any kind of suffering. Suffering doesn't make sence to them...and they can't understand a God that would allow it. But...the love they have...is real...and I believe that it is because of this love....that they will end up in better place than many of us who follow a religion.
Wiccans...are very much connected with the spiritual aspect of the earth...and there are different kind of Wiccans...but being general here.....it is basically honoring the earth and the elements and the ancient elementals...moon...sun..and the male and female deities. It is also about being spiritual and standing up for truth and holiness and goodness. They do a lot of work with quiet faith...not speaking of their work..and watching and learning how their spell turns out..and the lessons gleaned from. They are good people...and I look forward to seeing them in heaven. And the love they have for others..and the respect...is worthy of another glance.
I am not either of these...but I have studied them..and respect them.

Tisk, tisk, tisk. Wicca is a religion and as such has gods and goddesses, worship, ritual, prayer, etc, etc. Atheist do not believe in religion or any god or goddess. To the atheist these are foolish and immature.
Religion is not logical to the atheist. Calling them the same is an insult to the atheist.
Why can';t people just leave them alone and let them believe what they want to? It is not essential that everyone believes in a religion or gods or goddesses or one god. The belief that there is no god is just as valid as religion but it is not a religion.

By definition, atheism can not be considered a religion.
A religion is a social institution that includes a set of common beliefs and practices generally held by a group of people, often codified as prayer, ritual, and religious law. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction.

Somewhat like asking "how do the colours of lime green and transparent differ?" Atheism does not preach belief in deities (gods) and is not a religion.
