Dentist will have you bite or tap your teeth together on a black paper like carbon paper to place a mark on the teeth so they can see how the teeth come together. They will then grind the teeth so as to make a larger area of contact. If teeth are allowed to hit with high pressure on one point, the tooth can be damaged or rocked loose. Have lost a tooth for this very reason.

They can use articulating paper to mark the spot to adjust the bite of an appliance... they can also use 3-prong pliers, acrylic burs......and they also have a lathe in their on-site lab that's used as well.

:)

What do you mean, what do they use? You need to elaborate.
