Projection TVs have very poor viewing angle. You need to be sitting in front of them. Also they don't handle ambient light very well, but in a dark room they look great.
If you don't care about mounting them in a wall they offer the best price per size.

Some argue that needing to replace the projector bulb every 3 years is a down-side, but it brought my TV back to super-bright images.

The older DLP sets had 5 segment color wheels so if you zoom your eyes back and forth on some scenes, you could see a rainbow effet. The newer sets use a 6-segment color wheel which seems to eliminate the problem.

Beyond that - they are very simple, reliable sets.
