I need ideas quick I have 2 boys and a girl, my baby girl is 1 and will be 2 so we didn't want to put her in her own room just yet. I was thinking of dividing the room in half, but how can I decorate it without doing Sponge Bob who is unisex. Any unisex character theme ideas out there help me out.

Why cartoon characters? Kids interests change so fast, you'll be redecorating before you know it. Besides, why push commercialism on kids that small? Try something more generic...like a beach theme, with a lighthouse and a boat...that sort of thing. Or an aquarium. All kids like fish. And who's to say what is "for boys" and "for girls"? You could easily do a sports themed room, or a cowboy/cowgirl room.

I sponge painted the bottom half of my kid's room - you can pick a neutral color, like we used light purple on the walls with a darker purple sponged on the bottom half. The best reasons to do this: 1) hides finger prints well, 2) kid's can look at and "see" shapes in it like looking at clouds....before we moved my son was 12 and told me not to paint it because he had favorite characters he imagined in the patterns.
I also put a border using stencil shapes between the bottom and top - use simple shapes, and then make curtains that are matching in the simple shape (like stars) and it works for either sex.

I would skip on the characters nad opt for painting and matching the fabrics in the room.
- Green and yellow with gingham fabrics on your daughters side and solid fabrics on your sons. You could also use bumble bees with this theme.
-Brown and cream paints and fabrics with the bedsheets for the boys being a light pastel blue and the little girl a light pastel pink.
-Red with black and white gingham fabrics you could use teddy bears in this theme. (or teddys on your daughters side and cars on your sons side)

White wainscotting or beadboard half way up the wall would look nice in all of those rooms.

Paint is the most dramatic change and it will be the cheapest way to change up a room. Have fun and let the kids get in on it when you go pick out paints :)

I'm assuming it's all 3 in one room. Yellow would be a great paint color for the whole room. Then you could just do bedding in primary colors. Maybe green, blue, and red for each bed. I'm kinda into vintage decor, you could do quilts on each bed and then for wall decor do old pictures from storybooks of little girls AND boys playing together (like Dick and Jane).

how old are your boys? because id suggest maybe camo? i have a little brother whos 6 and a sister whos 3 and they both LOVE camoflauge. that, and it comes in different colors, green for the boys or blue and maybe pink for the baby girl. but that might be better for someone a little older..

how about dora and diego? do they watch that show? you could do a sorta adventurous room, with like..animals or something on the wall, and a dora comforter and theme for your girls section of the room and diego for boys.

what other cartoons do they watch? max and rubys a good one for both boys and girls, along with miss spiders sunnypatch adventures, blues clues has magenta for girls and blue for the boys, scooby doo maybe? sorry i cant think of anymore right now, ill keep thinking and if i think of anything else, ill add it. GOOD LUCK! =D

I have an under the sea theme room which is gender neutral. It's decorated with blue walls, sea shells, and fish stuff. We have some nemo stuff and little mermaid.

My friend has her boy and girl twins in a jungle theme room.

Decorate it in what the boys want. Soon your little girl will have her own room. Why decorate twice. It goes by fast!

You can do Winnie the Pooh; and most kids love the characters. You can also do any of the Disney characters or scenes from Disney movies...Home Depot has lots of items as does Walmart.
