Because they are insecure and find it difficult ( if not impossible) to just be "real" and approach her in a more appropriate manner, especially if they are not a jock, in which case they feel they have to work harder (perform) because they are not endowed with athleticism. They are not comfortable with how God truly made and wired them.

Women have more power than they realize. There is only so long a man will continue to behave in a certain way if the behavior is not giving him the results he's looking for. Therefore, if the man is repeatedly behaving like an asshole, it's probably because there are a lot of girls out there responding positively to his assholery. If women want more men to stop behaving like dumbasses, then more women need to respond more negatively to more men who behave like dumbasses to impress them. Nobody goes to the hospital if they are perfectly healthy. And a man does not change his game if the game he's playing scores him more points!

I think it's because they are assuming that they know how to impress her, and in fact they are covering up the fact that they really don't know and don't want to look like idiots (which they end up doing anyways...).
Knowing the little I know about women (4 girlfriends, and now a wife... none of the gf's were same time), I have a theory...
First, you catch her curiousity. Then she likes the sound of your voice. Then she listens to and likes what you say. She realizes that you are listening to her and you like what she says. Your personalities mesh and you come together like two pages in a book...
The jerks catch your eye, then go bizarre and end up alone because they can't admit to being weird and arrogant and not listening to the clues the woman is giving off...
Makes sense??
