Call the police / ambulance in her area and ask them to do a "wellness check" on your mother. Explain that you are out of state and believe she may need treatment and she is not seeking treatment of her own volition due to the confusion caused by a possible stroke. They should dispatch emergency personnel who can assess her and determine if she needs to go to the hospital.

Gabby as Tre says . we are stuborn!!!! But in our defense once we reach a certain age Drs. treat us like we are retarted, don't belive what we tell them, try forceing meds on us we don't want or can't afford plus other reasons=stuborn.

I'm really sorry Mom want go to the hosp. or Dr. an can understand your concern. Even if you call 911 they want take her to a Hosp. if she refuses treatment, My best advice is talk to God for her an for you to have patients an understanding with her.

I have had both a stroke and a major heart attack and didn't go to the hospital. Why would I want to. When I die it will be from my own mistakes not a paid doctors.

All you can do is encourage her to at least see her doctor. You can't force her to do anything against her will. One person has remarked that older people can be stubborn. That's true. I'm one of those older people, so I know how we can be sometimes.
