A Muslim fundamentalist (‘AwṣūlÄ«) is a person who believes in a propositional hermeneutics (literal and factual comprehension) of the Quran (scripture) and the Sunnah (tradition).

Fundamentalists Muslims believe that there is no separation between religion and state, and that Allah (god) issued commands and rules on most aspects of life and they should be followed.

If one did not submit (Islam mean submission and Muslim is a submitter) to Allah judgment in these commands then one is disobedient and therefore not a believer or at least a good believer.

An example on these commands is the order to fight the infidels (Jihad) who are categorized according to chapter 9 of the Quran (the last or second to the last reveled chapter) in three divisions: idol worshipers, people of the book (e.g. Christians and Jews) and hypocrites (Muslims who does not follow the commands of Allah like most of the Islamic governments leaders who apply secular civil laws but not Islamic laws).

The fight according to them is to free human kind from servitude to each other and make them only servants of god who should rule sovereign on all mankind.

Also they believe that Allah promised them victory and earth domination as part of their eschatological (futuristic) beliefs

Its only a select few. Unfortunately, in the Middle East they either dominate politics or terrorize the public, making Islam seem as a very horrific religion.
But honesty, I don't think they're anymore fanatic than Christians who bomb abortion clinics and protest on Mathew Shepherd's murder court case. We just have a better control over our fanatics in this country.

Muslims in middle east are fanatics because their governments are not secular. They are run by Muslim people who base their laws on Islamic laws. The people who came to power over there encourage people to be fanatics. In addition there are many teachers or "mullahs" there who teach extreme things to the young kids who are poor. They might help their family or something, and in return the kids join their organizations who may be terrorist or whatever. They often believe that their government should be following everything Koran says.

Also the book Koran teaches a lot of violent things. It was written in around 600 after Jesus and a lot of lines in it are a response to Christians and Jews.

Christians should be so fanatic!

Jesus was a real radical, arguing with the religious leaders of his day. In the end they killed him for his teachings.
Who was fanatic, Jesus or the religious leaders?

Most of us who follow Jesus, or want to, today are weak mamby pambys. Who would actually stand up and say, "I love Jesus Christ!" if there was a threat of death? I wonder?

The idea of there being a God who sacrificed his son for the love of man is a radical idea. If you are not a fanatic about it, I question your relationship to God the Father.

It can't be generalized, but the Islam religion itself is based on teachings which allow no tolerance. Unfortunately, Christians also made their tolerance level low because Jesus said that he is the only way, though I don't suppose he would have mentioned "go and pay people money to come to Christianity" :-) But Islam does mention use of swords and and gives them license to commit all violence in name of religion.

the ones you met are fanatic. I have muslim friends that never, even for a second, tried to convince me about their belief and they accept my way of thinking as it is. Even when we had religious conversations there was no conflict

Please, don't generalise. I don't think you would like being labeled this way either
