I just got back from an interview at Macy's. Well the interview never started because the lady said that it was coded in the system that i quit without notice when I was working at Macy's in another state a few months ago. To make a long story short, I quit Macy's to start training with TSA, and I told them I could only work certain days. They basically told me they didn't hire for me that, so I had no choice but to quit. What should I do? I know I didn't leave without notice.

well after I was told I wasn't hired for certain days at Macy's, I called them back the next day because TSA had given me my OJT schedule. I told Macy's that I will no longer be working there.

Simply saying you could only work certain days doesn't mean you quit. But if you actually did inform them that you were leaving Macy's, then that is quitting.

Now I assume you didn't quit in writing because a written letter of resignation would go into your file and serve as your official notice of your leaving. But verbally telling somebody that you're quitting can easily be forgotten or not passed up the chain.

So I would suggest contacting the personnel office at Macy's and letting them know what you actually did.

Now they might say that you didn't give 2 weeks notice, or "not enough notice." That's a different story! If you told them you were leaving and left the next day, then yes, you did tell them you were leaving. But you left them very quickly in a lurch. So they could say this wasn't leaving on very good terms and deny you employment on that basis.

So it might all come down to how much notice you gave them of your leaving.
