i need introducing help! my 2 year old male pom is scared of my new 11week old female pom. he starts kicking his feet and runs away. i put her on one arm and him on the other and he tries to run away. shes really bouncy and he's more laid back calm and used to being the only one, he has not been socialized like she has. help??????? also im scared to put them on the floor alone together (of course i watch) but im scared she jumps on him bc she is so bouncy and he wants nothing to do with her and wants just to run far away. im worried he might bite her. he acts scared and holds on to me /claws me tight. she just is bouncy and very very playful. should i just let them stay on the ground together and quit being worried or what is the easiest thing to do and why is he so scared how can i fix that??any help is appreciated!!!

I would recommend you take it slowly. If you allow the puppy to keep jumping on him, he could end up fearing her even more.

You could try putting the puppy in a crate and sitting next to it with your male in your lap when she's sleeping. Give him treats when he's close to her and not trying to run away. You could also put the puppy on one side of a gate and let them interact through the gate. He'll probably feel safer since she can't get him.

Since he's used to being the only dog in the house, it may just take some time. Sometimes, the older does doesn't want anything to do with the puppy, but the puppy wins their heart in weeks to months. Just give it a little time and make sure they're supervised when they interact with each other.

He's not scared of her. He just doesn't like her.
She's a stranger and here she is bouncing all over him! He knows she's a puppy (that's instinctive) so he won't harm her. The most he will do is give her a tiny nip, which will probably make her yelp and cry, judging by your description of her!
There are two main things you need to do.
First, give your male a lot of attention when she's in the room, including treats. Don't give him any treats unless she's in the room. Make him feel like he gets extra perks when she's there.
Second, let them alone together. Unless he's a monster (and I don't think he is) he won't harm her. He will discipline her when she's naughty, though. You will probably hear growling and snarling, and snapping. Let him do it. She's a little child and she needs to learn how to behave around him. He's the only one who can teach her that. Don't protect him from her; this gives him the message that she really is dangerous, if you are worried about it! Act confident. He can handle her. She's only a baby.
Soon they will get along better, and no doubt they will be good friends in time.

How long have you had the puppy?? I'd say to let them be, they need to work out their order. If she does something to annoy him then the only way he knows to tell her is to growl or snap at her. It will take some time but they should be fine. Before you know it they will probably be cuddled up together sleeping somewhere. I have a dalmation who was a rescue and when i got her i was told she hated cats so not to get one because she would attack it. I ended up getting a cat anyways, they worked it out and well as i type this both of my kids are cuddled up together right next to me. Every once in a while my dalmation lets the cat know she doesn't want to be messed with and that's that!!

Good Luck with you new addition!

Give it a little time. I have a 14 week Pom and a 2 yr. old Pom. It took a couple of weeks but they are great friends now.
