Anyone bound for Hell, is not SITTING there right now. Only the SAVED in Christ experience life after death.
Those whose souls are bound for Hell, remain asleep until the time they will be judged and tossed into Hell.

Let me pick one that isn't so obvious. I would guess that John Lennon is in Hell right now. Not because John was an icon of evil or a worse man than other men but because he had been raised to know the truth about sin and Jesus and he fell away from whatever faith he might have had during his childhood and started seeking "other gods" in places like India.
His song "Imagine" which is so loved by his secular fans sums up the futility of his efforts. Frustrated because he was looking for God in all the wrong places, so to speak, he imagines a future world where there is perfect love and peace without the Prince of Peace coming to pour out his Spirit and rule over the earth with perfect love and wisdom.
That about sums up the secular viewpoint of humanity. Sin isn't the problem, it's all of the other things like religion and poverty and governments that don't do their jobs. Unfortunately John who correctly surmised that people would call him a "dreamer" for the lyrics of his song had a nice dream but unless he had a death bed repentance woke up to an eternal nightmare on the other side of death's door as he trusted in his own goodness to be sufficient instead of the righteousness that God provides through faith in Christ Jesus.
