I am a permanent resident of India and I have a student visa of Australia valid till 15 march 09. I want to buy a car here(in australia). But I want to know that what would be the amount charged by custom department in India if I take that car with me after 18 months. Or what is the procedure or way so that the custom duties will be charged less?

The customs duties would be very high because India discourages importation of cars to their country.
