By law all emissions components should be covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles.
If you're in the USA, that is....

Please be more specific 2.5 liter or 3.5 liter V-6? I replace cat converter / manifolds all the time up to 8 years and 80,000 miles emissions system warranty. And I pity the poor fool "MR T" that has to use a cutting torch to change it. Boy I am glad I live/work in Texas. There are multiable Service bullitens for 2002 and up altimas cat converter problems. And the 3.5 liter V-6 is the most reliable. However get ready to replace up to two Oxygen Sensors that might be rusted in and not covered past 3 years

1-800-NISSAN1
Note: The address and business hours for the Consumer Affairs Department have changed. The new address is: INFINITI DIVISION, Nissan North America Inc., Consumer Affairs Department, P.O. Box 685003, Franklin, TN, 37068-5003. The new business hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Eastern/Central/Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
i can't find the ph# on nissan's site. this one above is from infiniti's site. just call this ph# and complain and tell them you have a nissan.
on my 03 infiniti qx4 i had the extended warranty from
infiniti (nissan)
i had the most expensive extended warranty. they told me that once the factory warranty 4yr 60k on infiniti's
would be 3yr 36k on nissan's
runs out that cat. conv. is not covered anymore. extended warranty booklet i think says that only exhaust manifolds are covered and everything after that is not covered. my cat. conv. are both leaking. they would not cover it under warranty. this was when the car had 61k miles on it. they have some cheap fix (look like huge radiator hose clamps) wrapped around my cat. conv's and i had to pay for parts and labor. i think they call it tube repair kit.
it still sounds like they are leaking too.

In the USA - if the catalytic converter is not specifically listed as a customer maintenance item, the car manufacturer is liable until 100K miles, as it is part of the emissions system.

i would doubt it would be covered, based on how it works it may be thought of as a wear item,,,if I wrote the warranty I would not cover it. they are expensive and can be damaged by some fuel additives. damage to the metal under side of a car would probably not be covered anyway
