I tried proactiv, and it irritated me so badly (my eyelids actually swelled up for a whole day!)
It took me years but I finally gave up on the store-bought remedies and decided to seek professional help. At my last doctor appointment, I asked if i could visit a dermatologist. I visited a derm. (the down-payment only cost $12) and she prescribed me with two creams - Differin and Duac. She gave me several samples that have lasted me months. And when she gives you the perscription, she gives you a coupon that makes the full size bottles of cream free for the first time (and the bottles last about 6 months). All you need to use are those two creams and any old moisturizer or face wash from the store. Going to the dermatologist was the best thing I ever did for my acne. Good luck.

I used proactiv for a couple of months and it did work. The only thing was it dried my face out to much. Instead I just bought one acne product, Clearasil Ultra Vanishing Cream. Then I used other skin care products not made for acne skin to let my skin breathe. A really great acne kit is Murad. It doesn't have benzoyle peroxide so it won't dry or irritate the skin as much.
