they do shed but they have layered hair and it sheds into the other layers. this means they need to be goomed on a daily basis.
tehy are basically considered a no shedding dog as they don't shed out.

All dogs shed, some dogs just grow new hair and shed hair more frequently than others. A cross breed may take after one parent or the other so some may shed like Yorkies and others may shed like Poodles.

Yes. Any dog with hair will shed, and a Yorkie/Poodle mix isn't bald, so it will shed. I sure hope you didn't buy your mutt from a breeder, because that person conned you out of your money.

Yes. They must maintain their long hair for the original purpose in which they were bred: ratting.
Yorkies are ratters which is why they have those long strands of fur to protect them from rat bites.
Also, Yorkies were bred really small so they could run down the rat holes after those little devils; of course most of the time it was a one way trip for the Yorkie, so they bred lots of Yorkies to work the rats.
