A bladder infection or irritation of the urethra. Could be caused by bubble baths or perfums or laundry detergents. Also, trauma can cause this too--an injury or sexual abuse. The child should be taken to the doctor.

The doctor will have to tell you about the treatment: she will probably need antibiotics for an infection or medication for a yeast infection, so the doctor is essential!!

This can be a chronic condition - I had this experience and hopefully the doctors will be able to give you an answer. It could be some problem with her internal female organs that is giving this as a symptom, or a bladder infection that is spread. One possibility may be that she is extremely sensitive to a number of things: laundry detergent, fabric, bubble bath, soap, etc. It may be that the original infection was not entirely cured by antibiotics, so it continues to return.

Some things that may help in the meantime, and can help prevent this in the future (I don't know which will apply to you, but in general): have her shower rather than take a bath if possible, make sure after bathing or getting wet (swimming) she is fully dried off in that area - if she swims don't let her sit in a wet swim suit, make sure her underwear is cotton and not too tight, make sure she wipes front to back when she goes to the bathroom and wipes well, have her drink lots of fluids.

my sons get yeast infections. it looks like a diaper rash and they scream when their dad and i wipe. at first we thought it was just a diaper rash but a week went by and it didn't get better. we took them in and it was a yeast infection. i know when you think yeast infection you think women and unclean sex but it's actually quite common with children. it's caused by a virus that as parents we cant' prevent. our doctor prescribed 2 creams one is called mupricon or something like that. my children cry and scream when they poop and we have to wipe. take you daughter in. most the time the pediatrician will give you a refill for future use.

We're all adults here, what do you mean by private parts? The labia? The clitoris? The urinary meatus? I'm not sure I understand where the site of infection is. And it depends on what kind of infection you're talking about? Is it recurrent or ongoing? And prevention depends on what infection and where. Not enough information. Take her to a doctor.

I used to get it at the same age. The Doc told my Mother it was because my urine was too acidic, so to stop giving me orange juice and give me milk instead.
