every decade or so things seem to veer this way or that. styles, music and such. the trends come and go and, often, return. i cannot do that anymore, but maybe you can?

The funny thing is that the more things change the more they stay the same. The trends seem to travel in a big circle - have you noticed that ?
I'm fairly up to date ( at least I think so - and my kids tend to agree) They've long since given up trying to shock me - it doesn't work, I'm just as likely to shock them !

Anyway, who ya calling "aged"?

Yeah (above) I hate when that happens !

I have come to realize that there really isn't such thing as being up-to-date. I get interested in lots of things even if they are not popular at the time, and I have to search for things that suite my particular taste. I buy things at stores if I like them, but I don't want to settle for whatever some corporation has decided to call a trend before putting it on store shelves and bombarding me with advertisements. I'm not trying to be different because I think its cool ( i do still use this word :) . However, sometimes it is satisfying to find and old record or anything when you feel like you discovered it on your own, it feels special to you, and lets you know you have a genuine interests that can be satisfied through your own decision making rather than by fleeting opinions of society.

Most of the constant trends and changes aren't age appropriate for some of us who are older. I keep up with them and buy what works to fit the new lines but so much of the clothing is geared towards 20 somethings and wouldn't look right. I find I'm paying higher prices for designer clothing that is more sophisticated and elegant. Where music is concerned, my husband and I love to have a nice mix, but nothing hip hop or rap. It doesn't fit our style and it's annoying. We throw great parties with all ages and everyone loves to come to our house because we like to have a good time. We travel a lot and meet lots of people of all ages and have no problem fitting in so I guess we're doing something right. When you get older and have developed your own sense of style and entertaining, it either works or it doesn't, but it's yours. Enjoy no matter what!

I think "cool" is the only word that's survived multiple generations.

I'm 30 and I'm still hip. The key is being open to new ideas, new hair styles, etc. instead of acting like anything new is weird.

Cool ish still cool, now its "Intercourse" Hip is a point of view thus a generalized hip does not exist only to conformists. Be you, nothings better, Dr. Pepper :P

Not if it means sagging my pants. Some things aren"t hip they"re stupid.
P.S. What is up with this "quick find" feature? It is keeping me from using my apostrophe key.

nope....I see no reason to keeping up with fads, I've got better things to do than to concern myself what's "cool" nowadays.....
