My cat has this thing for opening the bottom cupboard doors and getting in them to play or sleep, or whatever she does. I don't really know what I should do to keep her out. There are cleaning supplies and chemicals under the sink and that seems to be her favorite one to play in. Do I just need to childproof the kitchen cupboards or what?

Smart cat. Sounds like you may want to. I have one that does this too. We used duct tape for awhile (hadn't the time nor money to childproof) then did the latter when able. Another cat we just sprayed each time they tried or were in the cupboard with a water squirt gun. Made them not like the cupboard so much and they slowly stopped trying to get in it.

That's what I had to do, with ALL of my lower cabinet doors. My cats would get into them and I'd have stuff strewn all over. The childproof "thingys" aren't hard to install, or use...they let you open the door far enough to get your finger in, to push the little "stopper" down, and open. Just be sure not to leave anything really close (inside), or the cats will use their paw/claws on the bottom of the door, open it the 3" that it will, and drag whatever they can reach out, anyway! Good luck..........

my suggestion is to just move all your stuff out of your cupboards that is harmful to your cat and put all of your cats stuff in the cupboards, like the litterbox, etc. Your cat will be able to get into your cupboards no matter what you do, and if your cant wants to get in the cupboards it will. cats are smarter than people and cleverer and they don't care at all about you or anyone else, just themselves. Mabye the only thing that could possibly keep your cat out of the cupboards is if you kept a spray bottle and spray her with water whenever she goes near the cupboard.

Cats are strange. Mine used to LOVE to sleep in the bathtub or the laundry chute. I dont know why. Yeah, you should be careful so that she wont get into the chemicals. Go to the baby aisle at Wal-mart and get the little thing that sorta looks like a gun lock. There will be nothing you need to install, it just wraps around the handles or knobs and you press the sides to slide it on or off.

Aww, dont squirt her, thats mean!

Take an old spray bottle fill 50% water and vinager and spray the door a little inside. He will not go there. Works intantly. You won't smell it either. Trust me. After a few days when it wears off do it again. Eventuly he will find a new place.

Get some of those child locks, and if your cat can open those, I want to buy it haha! But seriously, child locks help, just make sure you get the ones where the cat can't squeeze into the crack of the door, as cats are phenomenal at it haha!

I would just childproff them or find some way to keep them closed so your cat can't open them but that is east for you to poen. Also try giving your cat some toys or something.. she might want to get in because she is bored.

you could childproof them, OR you could have much more fun and get a squirt gun and when you see your cat going for the cabinet, squirt her repeatedly.
It's called "aversion therapy". if she's smart she'll equate nasty cold water spraying with going in the cabinets and she'll stay out.

if you have handles on your cupboard doors, just put a ruler or stick through two of them, she can't get in. Rubber bands are good if you have knobs that are next to each other.
