Atheism is a religion in as much as some atheists claim to have found the best way to make up mind about self and world and go about the business of sharing this way with others.

That's possibly the most over-used question on the Internet. To me, it's pretty much as empty as 'Is Certs a breath mint or is Certs a candy mint?'

I don't think it's a religion--it's basically the LACK of a religion. However, since Atheist/Agnostic/Other is a category on census forms, etc., if people want to consider it one, that's fine with me.

Why do so many of us hang out in R&S? Because we like intellectual debate. Because some of us (myself) are basically Freethinkers and like the interchange of metaphysical ideas. Because some of us, quite frankly, like to rattle the cages of the more fervent zealots out there.

No. Atheism is a way of thinking.

Is NOT collecting stamps a hobby?

Is anorexia a style of cuisine?

Is baldness a hair color?

No, Atheism is not a religion. And I hang out here to help keep the influence of religion in check.

no, they are not.

since some Christians claim not to be part of a religion, we can ask them the same thing.

But of the two (I'm neither), the average atheist has more worthwhile things to say on the topic of religion than the average Christian seems to.

No, it's the rejection of religion. And we probably "hang in R&S" to get our point across.

No, I think of it more as more of an excuse. Even when a person who is apparently full of the spirit of God stands before you...

Is bald a hair color? Discuss.

Religion does concern atheists, or "nonbelievers". As long you guys keep trying to enforce your religion on others, i.e. morality, we shall linger.

atheism is totally a religion. they put just as much faith in denying that their is a GOD as christians put in believing in GOD. if you truly feel there is nothing to deny why are you always trying to subvert christians?

Only if "bald" is a hair color.

Does that mean we can't be interested in religion?
